Hello!

My gastric sleeve is tomorrow, and I’m unsure if a food I like is able to be eaten today. They said I should be on a liquid diet, but I’m wondering if yogurt/pudding counts as a liquid? I ask because after my mom’s surgery, they had her on a liquid diet and gave her jell-o.
Help! I just want a yogurt!

There are many variations

But

Not likely especially if they didnt specifically say you could have yogurt/pudding during your preop liquid diet. What does your info package tell you?

It said “bariatric liquid diet 2 days before surgery, with clear liquid the day of, stopping 2 hours before surgery”

Usually it's just liquids but since your instructions are vague, go with your best judgement

Good Luck Tomorrow 💜

If surgery is tomorrow it is usually clear liquids.. No pudding. Nothing after midnight for the anthestia. If u have an online portal for your hospital check and see if they emailed you instructions. They told me only a small sip of Water in am to take my syntheroid. If you need to take meds and are unsure take them with you and don't take before. Definately no blood pressure meds.

I think the Jello would be okay, or even sugar-free popsicles, but not the pudding.

Clear liquids are very very specific.

Clear liquids are:

black coffee

black tea (or black green tea ;) )

clear liquids (non-red or non-orange or non-purple): sugar free drink mixes without color, sf drinks that are see-through in nature and not colored

sugar free pop-sicles (tropical fruit flavored, no red, no orange, no purple)

Water

sugar free Jello (no red, orange is probably ok)

broth of all nature as long as it's clear (beef, chicken, pork, seafood, veggies--no Tomato, no cream soups)

And that's about it.

Good luck with surgery tomorrow!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
