Consistently feeling icky...6 weeks post-op

Recommended Posts

Does anyone else just feel icky all the time after surgery? Not debilitating but I just feel slightly pukey almost al the time. When I’m hungry, after I eat, in-between...I go about my day just fine only have this gnawing puke feeling constantly.

What surgery did you have? Do you feel constantly over full? Do you have difficulty swallowing? Do you vomit or just feel like you're going to?

Hi! I had the Gastric Sleeve, haven’t ever actually thrown up just feel nauseous. Oh and nope no issues swallowing it’s just a weird pukey feeling. I also don’t feel overfill just eat three or four itty bitty meals per day as per the instructions I was given. It’s a mystery - lol!

It's normal, it's takes some people longer to heal, and for inflammation to subside. Just keep Fluid intake high. I still had slimes/foamies and upchucked months out from food. And you have low energy from lack if calories, just make sure you get your Protein and fluids in and a few vegetables and it will progress. You could however have a bit of reflux, you might try a small dose of prilosec to see if that takes care of it.

Yup. Normal! Be patient with yourself and your new sleeve. Things will get better.

Thanks so much! I hadn’t read anything about people having this so I was concerned that something bad was possibly going on. :)

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
