Your NO-NO list

Recommended Posts

Honestly, I can eat anything I want. My band has loosened up and I haven't had a fill since Dec. I don't want one either. I don't want to go back to food getting stuck.

I eat small portions of anything I want and chew very well. I believe that is how the band is supposed to work.

i agree this is a great thread. I saw a couple people mention that they had trouble with grits..... my doc says i can have oatmeal....which i just never had a taste for....but i could handle grits.....im wondering if anyone had good results with grits.....i know they would have to be prepared very thin....

I just got back from the little store that sells a ton of high Protein shakes/soups/jellos/drinks, etc... I came home with a bunch of stuff to try. It's a shame they don't sell "sample" packs or something. I did get a variety box that has a pudding, shake, juice drink, and 2 Soups in it. So, that's good. I'm very excited. I also went by my surgeon's office and paid my program fee and got my book for class before my surgery. I'm going to read it this weekend!

Wow, this is a great list so far. And I know what you mean about the tortilla's.. ooh man, that sucks! I like Pita bread.... I would die if I couldn't have pita bread, but, I'd have to get over it..

Cottage cheese? ? wow, wouldn't expect that one...

And tuna? I figured most tuna is already pretty shredded... totally sucks...

I have pita bread from the arabic stores all the time... I eat about a half piece of a small one and have no trouble, but they are much thinner than the ones from the regular grocery stores. (They have a lot of stores in Richardson). Tuna makes me barf, donuts, french fries, soft breads. I can eat crunchy tacos, but flour tortillas are a no-go. I pretty much have to do liquid breakfasts because if I eat solids too early I throw up. I'm probably going down to Mexico for a slight unfill next weekend though.... maybe I'm too tight.

My list of no-no's includes spaghetti noodles(other shapes are ok), any kind of potato except mashed or baked, (like frenchfries, chips, hashbrowns), Buns for a hamburger or sandwich, and scrambled eggs. You wouldn't think french fries would be troublesome, but I slime every time I eat one. Just one!!

Scrambled eggs seem to give a lot of people trouble. I don't get why. I do have to eat them slowly and eat very tiny bites of them but I don't pb on them. I am not a fan of eggs but don't know what else to order when people want to go to Breakfast. Not many people know I am banded, so luckily, breakfast is not one of those meals I eat out very often, unlike lunch or dinner.< /p>

I don't have trouble with Beans if I eat them slowly. I have always had eggbeaters for Breakfast, but no more. I now have Kashi Cereal with as little milk as I can. About a 1/2 cup cereal and a small cup of peaches, no sugar added.

dry, tough, chewy or overcooked meat. It KILLS me. If it's tender or has a sauce, I'm fine. Doughy white bread. Yuck. If it's toasted or whole grain I'm fine. Every once in a while I have a problem with strawberries.... wierd I know...carbonation of any kind..... I had three sips of champagne on New Years Eve and thought I was going to die. Never again. I burped like a fog horn for three hours. I've been able to eat popcorn up until this past weekend. I guess I ate to much coz it swelled up in my pouch and hurt like hell. Not worth the pain. So far that's it. If I take my time and limit the amount, I can usually eat just about anything.

Anything SPICY!! I use to eat raw Thai pepper whole w/ every meal. I do miss spicy food. One bite and my band tighten right away and I'm in pain for the rest of the day. I can no longer eat rice (i'm asian!) or bread of any kind but I can eat any type of cakes and chips made.

A soft taco made me puke, but I think I was eating to fast and falling into old habits of eating fast and a lot when I was stressed. Because I have eaten one from the same place before and after, I think it was a chewing thing. Carrots and grapes hurt me. A very small amount of chocolate satisfies me now. Glad to know about tuna, was going to bring some to keep at work.

I don’t know what slimming and PB are would some one please enlighten me.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
