International Cuisine

Recommended Posts

Surprisingly, I have been having success with international foods. I tried a small portion of the mushroom chicken and angus steak from Panda Express (of course no rice because I’m only 7 weeks post gastric sleeve) and it was soo good! My sleeve didn’t fight me. Today I just noticed thatOlive Garden now offers Zoodles! Zoodles is Pasta made from zucchini. I had the Salmon piccata that is served with zucchini, it was good but I have now discovered that I don’t really care for salmon anymore. My husband makes delicious Jamaican curry chicken so he’s going to make some for me that is mild and use cauliflower rice to accompany it. Has anyone else had success with international cuisine either store bought or homemade?

I can eat pretty much anything now, but early out (once I was cleared for solid foods), yes - I ate international food. With Chinese, I'd skip the rice and focus on something with (non-fried) meat & veggies. Mexican - I'd order a fajita and again just focus on the meat & veggies. Or else I'd get a taco and just eat the innards. Middle Eastern places - kabobs work, and so does hummus.

I"m glad to hear so many places are offering zoodles now. I heard recently that Noodles & Co has a zoodles option for some of its dishes, too. That opens up a whole new world, since I haven't eaten Pasta in over four years!

That's interesting to hear about Zoodles options at Olive Garden and Noodles & Co.

At Noodles & Co you can make any item with Zoodles, even if it's not one of the advertised combos. There's a small upcharge.

Yep I think it's now known as Noodles World Kitchen. It's a fast casual Pasta place.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
