I'm an old girl (VSG 2013), but am trying to mostly do Protein Shakes and tea for the next two weeks. Your Protein Shake journey can help me, so keep us posted re: your weight loss at this stage. Hang in there.

I found a pretty good tasting one at Ross the other day! It's a "Belgian Chocolate" flavor and I like it.

Oy! Ok so that was harder than I thought it would be! Definitely going to have to make a schedule- my group says 4-5 shakes per day- I had trouble getting down three.
I had a big salad for dinner and had some chicken broth for a snack.
AND!!! I did not cheat!! Only one day but it’s going to be a one day at a time thing for sure.

It’s been going well... but has been TOUGH!! I am totally fine during the day but at night I want to eat the whole house! It’s probably because I need to add more shakes- actually one of the hardest parts has been getting 4-5 shakes in!!
I start my official pre op diet next Monday- I just decided to do a modified one with shakes during the day and low carb dinner on my own so I could ease into it.
The shake above is some vanilla Protein Powder ( my co op sells it in bulk so no clue on the brand) blended with huckleberries

Hang in there, it does get MUCH easier! I'm two weeks away from surgery and don't get hungry. I don't eat any of the "free" foods anymore and have to set a timer to get the supplements in or I will miss a few.

Good luck!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
