Told to stop losing??

Recommended Posts

I went for my one year post op appt today. I’m 5’7” and 166 lbs. my BMI is 26, still in the overnight category. She told me at two different points during the appt she would like me to stop losing weight. I’d like to at least get to the “normal” range for my height. Ultimately it’s still my decision, I just thought it was strange. Any thoughts?

She might be afraid that you'll get too low and then rebound. But, if so, she could have been more clear. However, do whatever you want so long as you stay healthy!

I wasn't told to stop losing but was told that BMI for bariatrics was different from people who didn't have the surgery because of the excess skin, so maybe that is why ? Our stats are about the same I am 5 6 and 165. Size 10 and med tops

She said my blood pressure was low, that’s all. Didn’t say if that was a “bad” thing, just that it was low 🤷🏼‍♀️

I guess you were too baffled to ask her why she advised you to lose weight? 😁

She kind of snuck it in there...I guess it didn’t really stick until afterward. Of course I’m going to send her a follow up message, I was just looking for thoughts from others

First of all congratulations on your success and happy 1 year!

I would be baffled too. I would understand if you had wonky bloodwork or you were closing in on an underweight BMI. I’m curious what her response will be when she responds to your message. I have my 1 year follow up next month, it went by so fast.

Keep us posted.
