Question for you all! I have no trouble drinking the Protein Shakes or any Water. I haven’t experienced the fullness feeling yet! I’m a bit concerned that something is wrong! Nervous to move on to week 2 Foods soon when I’m not feeling any fullness...

I am the same way. I can drink a whole Protein Shake without stopping. Also I don't get the full feeling when I'm eating my purees. My doc told me to eat until i feel satisfied not full. From day 2 after post op i get the im starving sensation when I'm hungry. Ill eat my purees until that goes away. I dont feel full, but i dont have the nagging starving pain anymore. Its usually about two ounces of puree. With Protein Shakes I drink half which they are 11oz so about 5oz then i stop for 20-30mins then drink the rest. I feel like i didnt get the operation since i don't feel full and i can drink a lot. But from what ive read its kinda a good thing. Since I'll actually want to eat and drink unlike the people who arent hungry, but feel like their forcing themselves to eat.

Hey all! Just wanted to give a quick update now that the first 7 days are over! I was sleeved on 7/24. I was supposed to go home on 7/25, but I had such severe nausea and vomiting that I couldn’t get discharged until 7/26. I haven’t had any real pain, but the nausea has been a b****! It has just now slowed down. Luckily, I was sent home with a prescription for Zofran, so I’ve been taking it as directed.

I’ve only lost about 7 lbs this first 7 days, but I did lose 21 lbs during the two week liquid diet, so I’m not really complaining. I know this is a marathon and not a sprint. Hope everyone else is doing well!!

You’ll probably feel the restriction more once you get to softs. That’s the first time I felt mine too and trust me if you take one morsel more than you should it WILL let you know lol. The purées and liquids are able to slide on through.

The first few days after surgery were relatively easy. It was when all the meds wore off (they gave me some sort of 3 or 4 day lasting 'pain block' using a medicine that starts with an 'E' (Experal?).

I am losing weight but my body isn't caring for the even closer to starvation level calories well. I am getting intense hunger headaches. The hunger is so bad I get that..well, it used to be a normal nauseated feeling you'd get when you truly hadn't eaten and your stomach was so hungry.

I had hunger relief for just a few days and man do i miss them. I'm still tracking at about 300 to 340 calories a day so that explains the weight loss but my body is refusing to gracefully accept it.

I still have lower abdominal cramping/muscle spasms throughout the day. I FINALLY had my first..um..BM yesterday. It had been almost 10 days and my dr's office SEEMED to have a blase attitude about it. I finally took some dulcolax. I had already been taking stool softeners for several days but nothing was happening quickly. My Constipation was SO BAD that I got extremely nauseated and my lower back was killing me. I couldn't sit in a chair for long as it hurt too much.

I'm just trying to hang in there and survive this first week..well...actually first 2 weeks since as of today, it has been 1 week since surgery.

Does anyone else's doctor have you not taking ANY Vitamins at all in your first 2 weeks? I was surprised when mine said to suspend them.

Sorry for whining..I knew this would be hard, that is no surprise. What is surprising to ME, is how hard it is to go through this and work 60+hrs at the same time. Also, I NEVER noticed food commercials nor was bothered by others eating in front of me during my LONG 30 day (cumulative pre-op diet phase)...I'm startled now by intense cravings when I wasn't even THINKING about xyz food until I saw a commercial for it! I feel like my brain is waging war with my body.

Today i am 3 days post OP. I'm struggling with my liquid in take. Everything burns going down and once it hits my tummy it's very painful. Both room temp Water and Gatorade Zero are painful to drink. I do have pain at my largest incision site, I'm guessing that is where my tummy was removed. I'm praying the pain in my throat, chest and tummy subsides soon. Other than that, I'm up and moving around pretty good. Is the pain I'm having pretty much the norm for bv being 3 days out?

We both had the experal too ! Wrong spelling I’m sure 🤷‍♀️.

Those first few days on the low calories you do feel so drained and you’re hormones are nuts and you’re going to feel better I promise but I know it’s hard to believe right now. I have a friend that calls that feeling the Keto flu lol. But I can’t remember exactly what day post op it was but FINALLY my body adjusted to the low calories and it feels normal now. Granted you get tired faster during activities than you would on higher intake but your day to day activities feel a lot more normal.

I feel ya on the poop probs mine are far apart too. I take stool softeners to keep it from getting constipated type pain but still lots of days in between.

we took Vitamins from day 1 except for Calcium we start that Tuesday at 1 mo PO.

Dont apologize for venting this **** is HARD and a huge adjustment and sometimes we all just need a moment to whine! The metal cravings were BRUTAL for me at first. Downright depressing and seeing other people eat made me want to cry. That part gets better too for me it was around 14 days post op. Not saying I don’t have cravings anymore but not like before. Now it’s more like hey I’m down 37 lbs, I’m in ketosis, I’m killing this, is this thing I’m craving truly worth going allll the way backwards? I’ll try to talk myself out of it and have something else. Craving pizza? For lunch I might do laughing cow with a couple pieces of turkey pepperoni. Stuff like that. Or sometimes I just need to whine to a good friend and get it out! We’re all in this together !

My doctor doesn't have me taking any Vitamins. I go in every 2 weeks or so (started a month before surgery) and get s B12 shot & an IV of nutrients, mineral, etc. (potassium, magnesium)

I haven't had any problems with the liquid diet. I am feeling NO hunger. I saw my dr. yesterday. He's pleased with my progress. 30 pounds! 10 were pre-op & 20 post. I'm nearly 2 weeks post-op. I have stayed with the Clear Liquids & may alternate clear with Protein Shakes. Doc says, "fine". He'd rather I take it slow than try to move too fast.

I have an assortment of drinks, Soups & shakes that I purchased here on the BP Store. They're quite good.

I hope all your difficulties smooth themselves out. I guess I'm just lucky.
Now... If I could only come up with some winning lottery numbers! LOL!

Girl you are rocking it! I was hoping to keep the NO hunger feeling for at least more than 2 days..BUT, I do feel the restriction which is critical. My gosh you are losing weight fast! How awesome!!!

My body just does not want to let go of the weight. I'm...9 days post-op and have lost a whopping 8 lbs. I know that probably seems like I'm ungrateful..but maybe I've just read too many post of incredible 10 - 12 lb losses per week after surgery. And these are RECENT posts..lol.

You know..I guess I'm not that far off from that...and I'm very very inactive due to a messed up knee but I've been trying to push myself to walk more each day regardless.

I'll just keep focusing on putting one foot in front of the other. I know I'm in major ketosis as the test strips cannot get any deeper purple than the highest range one. Sometimes I see it slip into the next highest one (1 shade down?0 so I know my overall calories are low. A couple times a week I will chart my "eating" and I range between 300 to 350 calories a day. I really would like to keep it under 200 but I do not know how much that would help my weight loss.

I can’t move as much as I’d like, either. For you, it’s your knee- for me, it’s my hip. As soon as I get some more of this weight off, I’ll be getting a hip replacement!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
