So I had to order new small bands for my fitbit because the original was sliding all over the place.

1 day post-op here from RNY surgery. Was up and walking within 3 hrs of surgery. I knew this was important to help with gas but also to help prevent me from throwing additional clots (DVT's, etc.).

I was surprised that they only kept me one night..

Have had an extremely hard time alleviating the 'gas issue'. My stomach is swollen and very tight feeling. During my 24 hrs at the hospital, I did the 'walk' they required 9 different times and am just now am barely getting the gas to leave my body.

It's one thing reading about how much pain this type of gas pain can bring, it is totally another thing to go through it yourself.

At home since about 2 hrs ago and am sipping Water primarily. Have just started sipping on Premier Clear Protein Drink (Tropical Punch). Goal right now is to hydrate...and then work my way up to the # of grams of Protein that my dr. wants me to be at (as a minimum, I think).

Side question: How many days did you wait before getting on the scale?

Try to wait a week ... if you can 😂

Sometimes the IV fluids artificially raise your weght and you can leave the hospital weighing more than you were.

I had my RNY on July 3, so I'm almost a month post-op. I'm feeling better each day and learning how to measure and weigh my puree meals. Getting in enough Water and meeting my Protein goals is a daily challenge, but I'm getting there.
I've experienced Dumping once when I mixed original almond milk with a Greek yogurt in my Protein Shake ( too much sugar for my body), but I'm fine now that I switched to unsweetened almond milk. It's crazy how little sugar I can now tolerate.
I'm also battling Constipation, so another reason to get all my water in.
I've also added Miralax and Smooth Move tea to my diet. It's helping [emoji4]
I have zero regrets about going thru with this and look forward to the future with my amazing new tool!
Hope everyone's road to recovery is going as well as mine!

I'm 5 days post-op (VGS). I have been doing well. My incisions are healing. The only real sore one is the stomach retrieval one. There's still swelling around that one. I have been doing surprisingly well with my Water, clear fluids & broth. I never did suffer the gas problems some others have had. The Protein water I was drinking pre-op, now seems super-sweet. Now I mix it with plain water & it's fine.

The best part? I am NOT hungry!! Woot! Woot!

My problem is walking. I have a bad hip & walking is very difficult. I need a hip replacement but had to lose weight before I could get it done. There's s great, paved walking trail not too far from me. I think I'll load my 'rollator' into the car, head over there & see how I do. At least I'll be able to stop & rest easily.

I'm just going to keep on keepin' on!

Hey there July siblings!!

I am 15 days out from my RNY GB. Surgery date July 12th. Yesterday was my 2 week check up and all went great. (Other than I am clearly a “slow loser.” 😔)

The surgery went great. One day in the hospital. I certainly felt it that day, but I came home feeling pretty good and encouraged that I was going to rock this thing. 2-3 days later a sharp pain the bottom left part of my stomach said something all together different. That pain has no dissipated and I’m now having some pain in my back. I haven’t lost as much as I thought I would, but I have the energy of a skinny 25 year old, so there’s that.

I transitioned to purees yesterday. I’m starting to think my bypass may be broken. Lol. Everything I put in my mouth goes down ok, except Water of course. Pre-op I loved Water, but it now just feels heavy to me. I’m getting my Protein and fluids in, but mainly via Powerade zero and crystal light. I actually miss plain water.

I am feeling good and excited about our journey. I did this to have a healthier life with my kids and dear Husband, so I am patiently waiting to see health improvements. I am not 40 yet, so I’ve got so much life to live and time to enjoy this new body I’m waiting for.

This site has been so very encouraging. Thank you all for being so honest and willing to share. 💛

Hey everyone. Had my VSG surgery done Wednesday morning and have been tolerating liquids just fine since. No nausea. However I’m still in a considerable amount of pain!! When did the pain really let up for you guys? On top of that, I keep coughing up phlegm and it’s KILLING my stomach. Splinting with a pillow does absolutely nothing. I can’t wait to eat a teeny tiny portion of ricotta bake!!!

My surgery was done on Monday. I didn't have a ton of pain. Soreness, yes. Discomfort, yes. But no doubled over in pain. Yeah... coughing is rough - but mine mostly vanished by day 4. The worse part for me is getting in & out of bed. That's because I'm dealing with a bum hip as well.

I refuse to think about what I can eat later. I need to change my opinion on food & not let it rule me.

I’m 5 days post-op revision surgery from VGS (7/2015) to a Gastric Bypass after gaining 27 pounds on 7/23. Never posted on BP but am going to try to reach out more this time around. I had a hiatal hernia fixed during my 2015 sleeve surgery and it came back; so I also had hernia surgery 7/23 as well. I am on my feet and feeling far better this time around than when I got my VGS...yay! But I’m also feeling far hungrier :(

I'm day 4 and doing pretty well. My belly is still sore, but I have a lot of high waisted lite compression underwear so I am wearing that and it seems to help with the belly movement that normally makes walking sore. I am getting my protein/ liquid goal. I am hungry though!!! The hunger feeling of an empty burning stomach that's saying FEED ME. I thought I'd be a lucky one and have the no hunger stage. I want solid food so bad, but I know I can't eat anything so I won't. My doctor said I can do purees next week and a few days before I see him he wants me to try something like tuna and see how I tolerate it. I can drink and swallow more then a sip and I can finish my whole Protein Drink in probably 10mins if I wanted. But I only drink half and then 30mins later drink another half. I'm sitting here wondering if they even did the operation lol. I'm going slow and steady though I don't want to overwhelm my stomach.

I’m on day 4! Learning how to deal with this new stomach. The only problem I have so far is dealing with pain from the incision that my stomach was pulled out of. I also made a “smoothie” earlier with whipped Peanut Butter, that was a big no. My stomach let me know right away. Other than that, I’m just sipping along [emoji847] Hope everyone else is doing good!!!
I'm on day 4 too! My tummy is also very quick to tell me when I have done something wrong There is a definite learning curve. I'm so excited though. I'm down 12 lbs and feeling great!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
