Pre-Op Requirements Completed! Surgery Date?!?

Recommended Posts

As of today, July 11th, I completed all of my requirements for my Surgeon & Insurance ! I’m still waiting on the results from my sleep Study I did June 11th & my Upper GI I did yesterday (he should have it by now).

There is nothing left for me to do, but to see my Surgeon for the 2nd time July 30th. Unless I have to do something else regarding the Sleep Study & Upper GI results. I should be receiving my surgery date on the 30th as well & I’m super excited! I had my 1st consultation May 28th. I’m down 16.7 of my required 15lbs ☺️

The only thing I’ll be doing within the next two weeks is making sure the office has all my documents needed that will be submitted to my Insurance. I’m making a call in the morning to make sure they received my faxed papers 🙌🏾👏🏾.

So many times I felt like, was this even worth it? But, I had to remember my reasons why I decided to get WLS. I’m hoping for a late Aug surgery date. I’ve been told my insurance is one of the easiest to get approved by, so I don’t see any reasons of why I wouldn’t get approved. I’m remaining hopeful as anything can happen.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
