Starflower 152 Posted July 12, 2019 My team gave me some guidelines on how much food your pouch can handle at various stages of post op ie. 1/4 cup up to three months. Is it the same for Protein Shakes?
Frustr8 7,886 Posted July 12, 2019 Well liquids seem to drain through at a faster rate but a 1/4 cup sounds pretty close to Target!
alex76 184 Posted July 12, 2019 I'm 1 week post-op and I can drink 4 oz. in about an hour. Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app
KatieMc 55 Posted July 12, 2019 I'm 9 days post-op and it takes me 15 minutes to drink a 10oz shake and I try to take longer than that. But I also know I'm having a pretty easy time with all this compared to others. 1 Teachergal82 reacted to this
catwoman7 11,220 Posted July 12, 2019 we were never given a limit on liquids - they go through you pretty fast.

I broke it, my sleeve is broken...🤦🏼♀️🤣 but seriously, should I count my blessings or be worried? 1 KatieMc reacted to this
Frustr8 7,886 Posted July 12, 2019 Count Your Blessings, my dear one. I have a RNY pouch, which I named Precious Pouch, she is as inflexible as wrought Iron. I would ❤ to move past 2-3 oz at a time! I have a Bariatric Clinic appointment next month & I will be 11 months out, planning something up to and maybe including a full- scale tantrum. What can it hurt? They have been ignoring me and my requests for help or someone to talk to, so there is nothing to lose.
Carrunda webb 13 Posted July 13, 2019 Are the Protein Shakes or drinks or powders nasty or it's ok and how long it take you to drink it I'm confused you have to drink 64oz of Water and 60mg of Protein but can you substitute some of the water for crystal light. Losingit2018 1,170 Posted July 13, 2019 (edited) I was allowed to add sugar/calorie free flavors to any liquid that I drank. The confusion may come into play if some here had bypass and some had sleeve. Bypass patients are typically able to drink faster than sleeve patients. You probably need to get 64 ounces Protein in per day if your plan is the same as mine. When I drink Protein Shakes it does count as Fluid as well as protein.
