Elizabeth2019 3 Posted July 11, 2019 Hi there, I am pre op for the gastric sleeve. I am a cash pay which is the only reason I chose the sleeve over bypass, I am a little nervous if the sleeve will be enough restriction for me. I need to lose 100 pounds. I struggle with emotional eating and sugar addiction. I’m just hoping there are other in a similar situation with success with the sleeve.
Tracyringo 503 Posted July 11, 2019 I have read articles saying the sleeve has more restriction then the RNY . I am 23 months out and still have great restriction. Before the surgery my portion size was huge and I loved cake, ice cream and candy lol. Now I keep all that stuff out of my house and when I want something I go out and get a one serving. Either surgery will work and you get out of it what you put into it. You have to remember its a tool. Good luck to you ! 6 1 Losingit2018, Orchids&Dragons, Mafi Mushkila and 4 others reacted to this

JessLess 1,163 Posted July 11, 2019 My goal is to lose 100 lbs. with the sleeve and at 9 months I've lost 70 lbs. and have 30 to go. But you really have to change the way you eat, because you can still overeat with the sleeve and gain the weight back. Good luck! 1 1 2ndTimeFreedom and Tracyringo reacted to this

SusieQ2019 567 Posted July 12, 2019 Congratulations on your journey. I had the sleeve 2 1/2 months ago and I've lost 37lbs since surgery and 53lbs since my journey. My goal is also 100lbs. My suggestion is to seek ongoing counseling for the emotional eating. The surgery is a tool and if some eating habbit aren't addressed old ways may creep back. I am glad I had the sleeve, I feel and look amazing and it's all due to following the program, tracking my food and exercising. Wishing you good luck. 1 Tracyringo reacted to this
AFVet 26 Posted July 12, 2019 It’s working for me. I need to lose 127 to reach my ideal weight. I dropped 100 lbs in 7 months. Still have 20lbs to go and it’s slow going now, but I know I’ll get there. 2 SusieQ2019 and Tracyringo reacted to this
