Anyone try bulletproof collagen protein

Recommended Posts

No, I haven't tried that brand. I use Great Lakes collagen Hydrolysate.

I like the Protein content of the bulletproof!

Not to be a buzz kill, but collagen Protein is worthless. I mean, it's not even debatable. Collagen protein is just a low-quality protein formed of only three amino acids. (glycine, proline, and hydroxyproline) And those are not even essential. Meaning our body can make them out of other dietary amino acids.

Any high-quality protein will have a PDCAAS score of at least 70, and often 90-100 (the maximum). Gold Standard whey for example has a PDCAAS score of 99. Collagen has a paltry score of about 14-16.

If you absolutely must have collagen protein in the belief that it helps skin elasticity (which has been debunked), eat Pork rinds or jell-o. They are made of the exact same thing AND have been reviewed by the FDA; which incidentally is the reason they have the disclaimer "Not a significant source of protein". supplements are not reviewed by the FDA so they don't have to put that information on the package.

Oh, and collagen protein powders can cost twice as much as whey.

At least they aren't being too fraudulent, as they state on the label that it doesn't count toward your RDA of Protein, so at least they are a half step above GENEPRO on the honesty scale.

Considering the other fadish stuff they sell on that site, I would walk away quickly.

Supplement Facts

Serving Size: 2 Scoops/5 Tbsp (24g)

Serving Per Container: about 21

Amount Per Serving
Calories 90
% Daily Value*
Protein 22g 0%1
Sodium 75mg 3%
Hydrolyzed Collagen 24g **

* Percent Daily Values (DV) are based on a 2,000 calorie diet.
** Daily Value not established.
1 collagen Protein does not count toward the FDA recommended Percent Daily Value for protein because it lacks one essential amino acid: tryptophan.

OMG Thank you for the Info! I had just been looking over them at Wally World, think I'll save my time, save my 💰 money. Really hate crying POOR but I am on Social Security, Late Lamented had no retirement, plans, no retirement pension. It only stretches so far, lucky the gross amount of food has diminished since I have a hummingbird - sized pouch instead of the "Stuff it all In" original model, sure it still takes me a long time to eat but I am not any longer commited to eating All The Food in the Western World. Matter of Fact , nothing sounds exceptionally good, have to fight away the new compulsion. Now I have to force ME to take in enough food to keep my jalopy motor running. Do I need a Bariatric Psychological Mentor? Maybe, but I would have to commit to a 100 mile round trip. And I fail to see the feasibility unless They Were Awfully Awfully GOOD at what they do!

All you need is whey Protein, don't believe the hype about all natural bla bla unless you're prepared to pay double for minimal differences

My surgeon even said only people who harp on about pure isolate are gym junkies.

Regular whey protein has all the amino acids and stuff that is needed to repair muscles.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
