Lynda486 784 Posted July 10, 2019 Yesterday I had my endoscopy and the Surgeon told my Husband that food was entering my stomach in 2 different ways, and that it could not be left that way. I haven't talked to the Dr himself yet, but am anxious to know what is going on. Has anyone had something like this? Thanks! Lynda
Frustr8 7,886 Posted July 10, 2019 I suspect you may have had the 2 sections of your stomach separated by just staples, some may have popped open and now you have a passage into the normally bypassed segment of your original stomach. That in practicality negates the benefits your original surgery would have given you. Never heard of another but it must still be possible. Please keep us updated🙏 on your further developments. Lynda486 784 Posted July 10, 2019 Thanks so much for your answer! I sure wasn't coming up with anything myself, and what you say makes sense. I will post again when I have more info. Thanks!
toodlerue 452 Posted July 10, 2019 Have you already had WLS or any kind of esophagus or stomach surgery before?
Lynda486 784 Posted July 11, 2019 Yes I had a VBG in 1998 and I went from 302 to 155 in just under a year. But I have had severe reflux since 6 weeks after surgery. I check on my procedure yesterday and the notes say I have a Gastrogastric fistula, so I know I will have surgery now I just hope it will be done laparoscopic. Last time it was open and oh the pain!
