I feel the same way because I did my surgery May 29, 2019 and I literally just lost only 24lbs I was feeling so defeated because no matter I do I'm not losing the weight the way I would like and I'm so constipated all the time. I've tried a candy, popcorn, nuts, fruit, vegetables to see what my body rejects but so far nothing. Everything is going down with ease. I too feel like why did I do this because I'm not getting the same results others did. Then my friend who did the surgery said to me, "my journey is mine and I can't compare it to anyone else's journey." I will say the same to you. Find out what works for you and your new body and do it. There's no way you will revert. You physically can't, because your body is not the same.

Hopeful ,

Maybe my experience will help give u a realistic expectation . i started my journey at 245lbs in fall of 2018 and was 231 the day of my surgery December 18. I lost about 25 lbs the first 4 weeks and then about 10 -12 lbs the. Next 2 months , so 50lbs in the first 3 months . Weight loss slowed after that but of course it should cuz I was 50lbs lighter ! The first month I probably ate 400-500 calories. A day and got my 10k steps in and did spinning a few times a week . Months 4 and 5 I lost maybe 5lbs a month and now I am losing at a rate of 2 lbs a month . I eat 1000-1200 calories a day and weight 171, am 3 lbs from my goal . 2 lbs a month isn’t much but hey , slow and steady wins the race! I still eat Protein first, don’t drink with meals, get my Water and exercise in every day and am really loving life . it seemed to happen quickly .. stay focused on the long game .. u can do it ! But I never thought to “experiment”with food until after month 4. I was on a mission . Even so there are things I just will never eat again .

We all have our days, when I got on the scale this morning it didnt move from last week. Of course its very frustrating for me its the fear that this honeymoon and rapid loss period is going to end when I am only half way to my goal. Table below for those that may be interested.

I kept losing well into year 2 - it finally stopped when I was 18-20 months out - but yes, after the first few months it's very slow-going.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
