🔼AGREED🔼

This is a Very common concern.

In fact I just asked one of my new surgeons last night at a seminar (I'm being converted to RNY) about it because I wanted to get info again for everyone.

He said he almost never see it with the patients of any of his various surgeries (VSG,RNY,DS &SIPS) who follow the protocol of the Vitamins and Protein strictly.

He also said hes seen it (usually) occurs between 5-8 months post op and never beyond that if the patient is properly nourished.

He recommended adding Biotin as extra support. I did a bit of extra curricula research almost 2 years ago now during prep for VSG and came across med journals using LLysine (amino acid) as a supplement for halting hairloss. So I'm doing it, again...

It's one of the common things that happens post-bariatric surgery, but I think it only lasts for a short period of time. I'm taking Biotin and using Rogaine and Nioxin.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
