Sorry but another questions.

I had my surgery on the 24th. It has now been 2 weeks. My weight is sooooo weird. I was expecting it to just come flying off. I lost 5 lbs and got down to 239 but then today I weighed myself and i was back up to 243.4. I have been so confused and just down about it all day. I am doing my liquid diet. I don't know what I am doing wrong. My doctor wants me to get 64 ounces of liquids a day. I have been doing so happily but not sure about it. I did have diabetes type 2 before the surgery but my sugar has been staying between 90 and 115. Could it be the diabetes, insulin not kicking in or something. This surgery was way too important to me for this to be happening. It just makes me feel like I am failing. Sorry if I sound like I am complaining because I don't mean it that way at all. I am just extremely concerned. I go to my first post op visit tomorrow. Thank you for any help!

In the beginning, your weight can fluctuate wildly. Some doctors tell their patients not to weigh for the first month because it can be so distressing. Just stay the course and know that your weight on any individual day will not control the rest of your life. You'll be successful if you keep on like you are. Just give yourself some breathing room. It'll be ok.

Agree with this. Even in maintenance my weight can swing 3 lbs from day to day. I don’t worry about it unless I start to have a gain that sticks.

Also - you probably need to poop!!!! That was real problem for me n the beginning. I could lose 3 or 4 pounds when I finally let one go!!!

Thank you all for the replies!!!! I am back down to 240 as of today but I think I do agree I don't need to weigh myself so much! It has become an obsession but I can see how that is going to drive me nuts. Best of luck to all of you and thanks again!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
