Recommended Posts

i am 2 months out, and sometimes i vomit without having ate anything for a long time ( of course no real vomit/liquid comes out because my stomach is empty, but i still do it as if i were to throw up something) i hope you understood what i meant.

i dont know if its my stomach enzymes filling it up or whats the deal.

GERD? Have you talked to your bariatric team about this issue?

Maybe you are going to require them for a longer period; check this out with your surgeon and staff.

I agree. I usually get it from dumping, but the nausea runs after for at least 6 to 8 hours for me.

I’ve experienced the same and still do sometimes (I’m 7 years post-op gastric sleeve). Could be GERD, which I have. Definitely check with your surgeon.

Keep trying to drink, especially your Protein. You don’t want to get dehydrated. It’s the #1 reason WLS patients return to the hospital. You may also feel fatigued and burn muscle.

Gagging on an empty stomach is very painful, I know the feeling! I’m sorry, I hope you get some help soon.

but i dont experience heartburn or chest pain, could it still be GRED?

just feel nausea similar to the one i get after eating, and my stomach capacity is less.

do i need to take my PPI pills everyday or only before meals? because my instructions say take twice a day before meals. but sometimes i go the whole day without eating so i dont take it.

There is something called silent reflux (Laryngopharyngeal Reflux or LPR, for short) which does not manifest in the same symptoms as GERD. LPR is harder to diagnose and treat. I’m no doctor, but at 2 months out, you should definitely be eating better! Please consult with your surgeon and follow their instructions.

I really hope you get help and feel better soon. Keep us updated please.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
