lacey.lacey 7 Posted July 3, 2019 So this is not the most fun topic, but really looking for some people who may have experienced this. I am 2 months post op VSG. I normally only poop once every 4 days or so...yes I know it should be more. Today my stomach started cramping so I went to the bathroom. I had several large blood clots in my stool. Anyone know why? I have contacted my surgeon but it’s the day before 4th of July so idk if I will hear back from them anytime soon. Any thoughts or help would be greatly appreciated! 💩 1 Frustr8 reacted to this
AZhiker 2,253 Posted July 4, 2019 (edited) Is it bright red blood? Your stools are probably pretty hard if you are going only every 4 days. The hardness and straining may have popped a hemorrhoid, which can really bleed a lot. Hemorrhoid blood is red, because it is close to the outside opening. Dark or black colored blood would be a very worrisome sign because it means it is further up - maybe damage to the surgical site. At any rate, you need to get it checked out.
