I couldn’t weigh for 12 days as I was recouperating in a hotel. But at the end of that - I was well into losing.

but I think it varies a bit. It will happen!!

I lost 9 lbs on my pre op diet and gained 9 lbs while in the hospital. It took me about 5 days to lose that and by the end of week one I lost 3 more.

Try to stay off the scale and don't worry about it. I'd say within 2 weeks

I'm 5 days post op and still in pain; can't sleep on my side cause I feel that is tugging at my stomach. I still have pain on my neck and shoulders... the doctor had me do a cat-scan and everthing showed okay. Anyone else went through this?

Just a thought but I'm wondering if some of the air they filled your belly with traveled up into the neck/shoulder. I have heard this can happen if you late too flat initially after any laparoscopic surgery. I hope you feel better soon.

5 days post op of Bypass. Feeling good, no pain just tired. Drinking Water 42-48 oz and Protein 60 g. Still on liquids but Soup menu has increased. Have noticed that Jello has lost its appeal but popsicles (sugar free) I am still loving. From 400lbs (January 2019)to 319lbs currently. Thanks to my family and friends and these post and support groups.

I left the hospital heavier than I went in too. I was so discouraged the first few days at home—wanting to see the instant effects on the scale..especially since I was feeling so crummy. I’m 8 days post-op and the scale is moving in the right direction and those pesky pounds from the hospital are almost gone.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
