For newly sleeved--why can some drink "normally" and others can't?

Recommended Posts

Hello, Everyone.

I've been following these boards and haven't been able to find an answer to the following: Why do some of us seem able to drink nearly normally very soon after surgery (days, even) and others cannot (or perhaps can never?). Does anyone know why such a large spectrum of experience regarding liquids?

I was told in the hospital (and have read here) that liquids can't distend the pouch, so I'm not quite worried. But, I am perplexed.

Thank you for sharing whatever you know.

Cris

Hello there, I'm thinking everyone's degree of inflammation is different. When some people get an injury, they swell at that site so badly that sometimes the inflammation is worse than the actual insult/injury and others, not as much. So depending on the amount of inflammation on the sleeved tummy, there's narrowing for some people and there's isn't an ease of passage of any type of food. Because others didn't swell, they seem to have an easier time eating during the immediate post OP. Hence the phrase "everyone is different". Has nothing to do with stretching, surgery, surgeon etc. Doesn't predict outcomes etc etc.
Think of it like an allergic reaction, some people's immune system come our swinging and the swelling is scary! Some, not so much.

I hope this helps🤷‍♀️

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
