Migraines getting worse - 8 months post op

Recommended Posts

Anyone post-op have their Migraines get progressively worse? Mine were 99% under control before surgery - maybe one every 3-4 months. Since then, they've gotten progressively worse. I've now had some form of Migraine (some moderate, some severe) every day for about 3 weeks. I'm trying to get into my neurologist, but until I can, i just don't know what to do. I can't take triptans, NSAIDs are now out, and tylenol does nothing. I feel like crap and I'm out of ideas.

Me too! I'm 7 months post-op sleeve and hadn't had a Migraine in 2 years but now I've had two in the last couple of weeks and many crushing migraine-like headaches that weren't full-blown Migraines. I thought it was the weather, heat, humidity, and atmospheric pressure

And I must be the opposite, I really haven't had a Migraine flare-up since SURGERY.

I went to PT for my headaches. I had treated by a neurologist for years for “migraines”. I had a suspicion that they were actually tension headaches. Seems I was right because I haven’t had a headaches in weeks. Maybe explore your options

Thanks - my PT thinks some of my back pain is being caused by neck issues and has been working to see if that causes my Migraines, too. The PT has been helping my back (a little, and not fast enough), but my migraines just keep getting worse.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
