Is it just me or does it hurt drinking Water? If i drink crystal light it doesn't hurt but its to sweet for me. Im normally a major Water drinker but ever since i got my surgery, drinking water feels like swallowing rocks.

Yes this happens to a lot of post surgery people. I'm 3 1/2 months out and I have to either add something like a flavoring or drink it warm so it is not so uncomfortable going down. I JUST started drinking alkaline water and IT GOES DOWN SMOOTH with NO PAIN! It's actually softer than plain water and I don't have to add anything to it. You should try it.

Yes, what Mrs. Hayes said. Warm Bone Broth or warm decaf/herbal tea.

It felt like consuming aquarium gravel - it gets better. Make a pitcher of infused Water - a couple berries, slice of lemon, or mio drops helps. It takes awhile to be able to do more than sip, but you will get there.

Nor will I and sad to say I am still farther out. Frustrating part, my Bariatric Clinic practices Benign Neglect at this point, at 10 months for them, the thrill is gone, out of sight, out of their minds. I'm 50 miles away, THEY CANT HEAR ME! Local hospital here regards me as a purple spotted giraffe, interesting but have no real advice. Like many others in the Animal Kingdom, interesting but no real clue to help me. If this is the restriction they talked about for RNY it can take a flying leap, I never have thirst satisfaction.

Ok update, Drinking Alkaline Water at room temperature works wonders. Thank you sooooooooo much for that advice.[emoji6] I still have to take my time and drink it but at least it's not hurting and it doesn't feel like the water is sitting in my chest.

Broth makes me so thirsty. Is that weird? I'm going to get herbal tea and try that as well

It's not weird at all. Check the sodium in the broth. A lot of broths have a lot of salt. Maybe this is why it makes you thirsty?

My bet is that it is! When you read labels it can be a shocker. What you always thought was Good For You isn't. That's why making items yourself is superior, you can control seasonings, and especially. sodium content. Did you even figure out why we have such horrid levels in commercial foods? It is so they will stay shelf- stable plus like carbohydrates we learned to ❤ them as babies or Toddlers, by the time kids start school their tastebuds are all screwed up, that's why they waste so much food in school lunchrooms, they are looking for Fritos, Potato chips, pretzels and soda pop. They same stuff we, as parents, fed them as a reward .
Billy stop banging your sister' s head against the wall and we'll go to Micky D's. Do you want,to stop at Dairy Queen for ice cream after? Oh yeah, I was as bad as everyone else, but you get desperate to lower the screaming noise level to a muttered quieter level. And you do your best to keep them from annihilating each other! Isn't that being a GOOD PARENT?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
