The Bandsters' Constitution

Recommended Posts

I don't have a DH. I do have a DD though who had GB surgery. She has the dumping syndrome and can not tolerate one bite of anything with sugar.

So she is very good at telling me "that's not on your diet" if I eat a hersheys kiss.

i would ask why the hell not? anything ... in moderation. is in "my diet".

A couple of months after my surgery, I went down to Dallas for my first ever trip to Texas Stadium to see my Cowboys at home. I had my monthly checkup the two weeks later. While I lost around 9-10 lbs in that month, I confessed to the PA that I was not overly great while down there about my diet.

All that said, she told me what my addition will be:

Bandsters have to be allowed, by their SO and themselves, to live life. It can't all be about watching everything you eat. If you fall off the wagon once, just get right back on.

That's so true! That's why I love my nutritionist, too. She isn't one of the anal-retentive nutritionists that apparently only work with RNY patients and don't understand that bandsters have different needs and requirements. She's told me straight-up that if I'm craving something, I should indulge myself and then get back on the wagon because that's what normal people do. They don't tear themselves down for having a serving of ice cream or a chocolate bar now and then. And after all, isn't the desire to be "normal" a major reason why we all got banded?

I think bandsters have the right to get up and leave the office of any medical doctor they go see who has no idea what a lap band is, or belittles them for having one. (Or bitch them out, depending on how your day is going).

My law of irony for a bandster is, even though your skinny mother-in-law always chews you out for being overweight, she will be incrediably, publically offended when you do not eat the huge chocolate cake she made.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
