The Bandsters' Constitution

Recommended Posts

Hi!

What would you include in a "Bandsters Constitution?" With all the drama of being a "newbie" vs. an "oldie" we really need a laugh. What "rights" should bandsters have? What "laws" do you think all bandsters should follow?

We, the Bandsters, in order to form a more perfect union....you get the idea!

The Bandsters' Law of Gravity:

1. What goes down, might come back up (especially if you're not supposed to be eating it)! :)

The Bandsters' Bill of Rights:

1. You have the right to admit you're starving to death on the oh-so-evil pre-op diet. :hungry:

What would you add?

Oooh, OK.

Bandster Laws

If you dont eat less, move more, you wont lose weight and in 9 cases out of ten it is nobody's fault but your own. There is no way around the math people, shut your gob and move your ass.

Bandster rights.

I do believe you have the right to fall off the wagon, come here and have a whine about it and receive support, not holier than thou "why are you eating chicken nuggets?" questions. This is hard work. We all live real lives and we all eat good and bad foods. Some people never get the balance right, others do. So maybe.... we all have a right to a certain number of those moments, but others reserve the right to lose patience after a while perhaps?

LMAO I was just thinking of posting a rant about the same exact thing !

I am tired of the whiners complaining and saying the band isn't working for them. Get off your asses and make it work !

unless of course it is day 2 of your post op.

then we "oldies" have every right to call you a dumb ass.

law:

i love Jacqui's ... eat less and yes you have to MOVE that fat ass to make it less fat.

I thought of a couple of new ones today:

Right:

Bandsters have the right to NOT order a drink with their meal at a restaurant.

Bandsters' First Law of Finances:

The cost of being banded is inversely proportional to the amount of money in your savings account.

Right: Bandsters have a right to complain about exercise ... up to a point, kind of like the people who fall of the wagon and confess to eating chicken nuggets, pizza, etc. I agree it gets old fast, but I really and truly despise almost all forms of exercise with a purple passion. I keep hoping being banded will make me a born-again gym rat but even I'm not that deranged! I went to a small school with a class full of "mean girl" jocks. I was not athletically inclined and just didn't care and they treated me like $hit! I was the only girl in my 8th grade class who didn't play basketball in HS. My mom, who just didn't get it, never has and never will, made me try out because she had always wanted to opportunity to play sports - and I hated every stinkin' minute of it. I was delighted when I got cut :heh:! Didn't mean to turn this into a rant, but you guys get the idea -

I think Bandsters have the right to slice-to-ribbons with a killing dirty look anyone -- albeit spouse/child/neighbor/doctor/trainer-at-the-gym -- anyone who tells you you're not losing weight because you aren't eating enough.

True or not, I'm sick of hearing it!

Since I started the thread, do I have the power to veto the addition of green's "Newbies have the right to ask what PB and NSV mean" statement? LOL Sorry, green!

I think that it should read "Newbies have to right to research information about their new band on Lapbandtalk.com." Get thee to the abbreviations thread! LOL

Hee, hee!

Yah, that seems fair but what if the newbies are as dumb as Green was/is? :):faint:

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
