Everything makes me queasy!

Recommended Posts

Hi! I’m 5 weeks post-op RNY and everything I eat makes me queasy! I mean everything!! I spoke with my physician and they said it’s normal and to give it time. Has anyone else experienced this?

I did find at first that a lot of things gave me mild queasiness. It does get better although there doesn’t seem to be any rhyme or reason to it. One day I will eat something and I’m fine, the next day I eat the same and get queasy or shaky

is this all the time or mostly after you eat? Are you a bypass or a sleeve patient? If all the time, things should get better fairly soon. I remember the first few weeks were kind of tough. Remember to eat slowly and if your stomach doesn't seem ready to move on to the next phase, then don't....take your time.

If you are a bypass patient and it's mostly after you eat, there's a chance you could be developing a stricture. If slowing down doesn't help, keep your surgeon updated. If it's a possible stricture, they'll do an upper endoscopy and stretch it out if they find it (easy, painless "fix" that'll make you feel better right away, if that's what it is). You are in the right time frame for that - they almost always occur during the first three months post-surgery. I had one at four weeks and another at eight weeks. If you're a sleeve patient, though, this is probably NOT what it is. From what I understand, sleeve patients can get them, but they're VERY rare in sleevers (they happen to about 5% of bypassers)

I'm 6 weeks out from RNY and dealing with regular vomiting. There's not really any rhyme or reason to it. Something I ate easily yesterday makes me vomit today. Water sometimes. My pills/vitamins sometimes. My family knows now if I say get out of my way, I mean now, as I dive for the bathroom or the sink.

My RD told me that some of us are just lucky... lol... and it will pass eventually. Eating slower (glacial pace, chewing a teeny bite a gazillion times) and taking smaller than small bites helps. I actually made it all the way through the day yesterday, until my bedtime pills got stuck on the way down.

Hang in there... if it carries on much longer, I'm going to follow up with my clinic again. I suggest you consider the same.

I just posted about this, I’m in the same boat but it’s meat that makes me sick, the thought of having to eat it makes me want to vomit but, I know it’s a necessity for Protein.< /p>

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
