nomorefattypatty 329 Posted June 26, 2019 Can anyone tell me your experiences revising from the sleeve to the bypass? I'm hoping it will relieve my acid reflux, but I've heard it doesn't work.Sent from my SM-J337P using BariatricPal mobile app 1 GreenTealael reacted to this
catwoman7 11,220 Posted June 26, 2019 from what I've heard/read (from hanging out on various bariatric boards for the last five or so years), it does help most people. Not all - but most. 2 allies journey and nomorefattypatty reacted to this

Macy6 356 Posted June 28, 2019 I’m nearly 4 weeks out and it stopped my GERD. 3 nomorefattypatty, allies journey and Bastian reacted to this
OzCaz 34 Posted June 28, 2019 I just had a bypass as a revision from a sleeve. It was done about 6 weeks ago, and the sleeve about 10 years ago. I had terrible reflux basically since the sleeve was done, as well as a hiatus hernia. I have had zero reflux since the bypass was done! It definitely worked for me. 3 1 Bastian, allies journey, nomorefattypatty and 1 other reacted to this
allies journey 144 Posted June 28, 2019 I sure hope it helps! Scheduled for July 17 and I'm praying for some relief! My surgeon's and gastrointestinal doctor said that it's absolutely going to work. I had no doubt about it until I saw this message. My reflux is severe and I am having RNY revision surgery on July 16th. OzCaz 34 Posted June 28, 2019 I think I have a vague understanding of why it works from how my doctor explained it to me. The part of the digestive system that creates the reflux is disconnected from the oesophagus and delivers the bile further down the system, meaning it can’t get back up and cause damage. Please excuse the probably very bad explanation, but that was my (non-medical) understanding of it. 6 Syrus, allies journey, Frustr8 and 3 others reacted to this

allies journey 144 Posted July 5, 2019 I also have a hiatal hernia from the sleeve I'm waiting for my dr to get me approved so I'm just praying it's done soon the hernia is small but painful.Sent from my SM-J337P using BariatricPal mobile appMy severe reflux disease went from me taking 2 pills a day, to now almost 3yrs later taking a total of 10 pills a day, zofran for nausea and a GI cocktail 3 times a day after the sleeve surgery. So am going to be having revision surgery from the sleeve to RNY to hopefully get rid of the reflux. I had hernia repair when I had sleeve surgery and apparently it's reopened as well.
