Ellf 205 Posted June 26, 2019 I'm now about three months out and am looking to try to start adding some fruits and veggies back in to my diet. What recommended of each should I try? What should I avoid?

Ellf 205 Posted June 26, 2019 I'm cleared to eat "anything," but I just wanted some recommendations. (Anything, so long as the sugar content per serving is <10g.)
SusieQ2019 567 Posted June 26, 2019 My dietitian recommended Water Mellon, berries, cantaloupes and those high in Fiber while avoiding the more sugary fruits. I told her that I like cherries and she said sure, unfortunately cherries are heavy on my stomach. When eating fruits its best to eat with a Protein, cottage cheese, yogurt etc. Always check with your plan of course. 1 SlimChickadee reacted to this
Orchids&Dragons 9,047 Posted June 26, 2019 I'm a big fan of cherry tomatoes. Great snack! 1 Wendums reacted to this

Cheeseburgh 3,080 Posted June 26, 2019 Watermelon and cantaloupe were the first fruits I tried and I had no problem. Disclaimer: I seem to have an Iron stomach, nothing has bothered me. 1 SlimChickadee reacted to this
Wendums 64 Posted June 26, 2019 (edited) Since I was able to eat solid foods, I haven't had a bad reaction to any fruit that I've tried. I use to eat a lot of apples and the small mandarins like cuties, but I've kinda burned out on them. Lately I've been into fruits like mango's, pineapple & nectarines. My dietician warned to not eat too much fruit, but it's never effected me in a negative way, so I eat what I want of it. I have only had one bad reaction to veggies and it was from The Panda King. It was a small serving of Broccoli Beef no rice, for some reason it didn't sit well. Salads are my go to veggie. But be warned, salads can be a slider food. For me I can eat a whole plate of it where as more dense food like meat I can't eat more than a few ounces at a time. Edited June 26, 2019 by Wendums
catwoman7 11,221 Posted June 26, 2019 with fruit, I started with berries. Now at four years out, I can eat pretty much any fruit except citrus fruits (the acid bothers my stomach). Cooked veggies are much easier on your stomach than raw, so start with those. I can usually eat raw veggies now, too, but sometimes they irritate my stomach, even this far out. as an above poster said, though, check your plan first - they're all different.
