Got my insurance approval and I am having my surgery July 30. The first week of the presurgery diet I'll be home alone, my husband will be at "band Camp". Then one week when he is home. I am so very excited!

How did it go? Hope you're doing well...stay on "the plan" and you'll be so excited in 6-12 months!

The first week is just awful. It seems all I do is take pills. I have 2 four times a day, two in the morning, two at night and it is not pleasant on my stomach. I know it will get better but it seems it goes so slow. It seems like the only thing I can eat is pop cycles. I'm going to try broth this afternoon. I need to keep my eye on the goal and not the journey. Oh, my neighbor brought over Pasta with homemade sauce meatballs and sausage for my husband. It smelled so very good. I could have cried.

My wife and I are both 65 and getting sleeved a week apart in December. It will be an experience together, but at least no spaghetti and meatballs to deal with.

Good luck on your journey. Mine was pretty uneventful and no pain and took no meds. Do exactly what you are instructed to do. The first week of Clear Liquids for me was ice tea and my Protein Drink. Very small portions of it. The first several weeks don't worry about Proteins just stay hydrated. In fact, I thought my meals were my meds the first week. My second week was full liquids and I love cream of chicken Soup. I blended it to take any chunks out and used fat-free soup. Oh, Outlast pop cycles without added sugars were a Godsend. That was a big part of my eating. From the start of my journey, the pre-surgical diet I've done well and will follow my instructions. Good luck!

I had my gastric sleeve surgery Dec 26, 2018, 2weeks before my 65th birthday. Let me say that no matter what, this has been the BEST decision I ever made for my health and well-being. The weight loss has been slower than anticipated- 65 lbs in 6 1/2 months. But oh my. I’m smaller than I’ve been in 37 years, and that is such an boost to my confidence!
Except for “pooping” issues, I have had zero problems.
I wish you ALL of the health and happiness! And... you go girl!!!!!

I've only lost about 23 pounds and can tell the difference already. I came in the front door, up 4 steps, like a regular person and didn't have to pull myself up. I am enjoying every little victory.

Hi,I am having sleeve july 1 ,I am almost 67 with bone on bone hip and knees,,I am in the prep phase,,I would very much like to hear from folks that had sleeve over 65 and have success stories, only positives,Thanks so much ,

I had my sleeve on the 28 th of August and I turned 67 right before my surgery. I also had two heart stents put in November the year before. I had the six month insurance weigh ins and lost close to 72 pounds within that six month period. My sleeve surgery hit a snag when my surgeon had to go back in due to a leak. I spent five days in the hospital .He fixed that and I have done great since. I am currently at week 4 and on pureed food till next week. Hit the dreaded three week stall. Staying on course though.

Sorry about your problem and I'm happy to hear you are on your journey! I was 72 when I had my sleeve done July 30. I'm losing and have hit my second stall, at almost 8 weeks. This time I'm not losing my mind, kind of. You know it is 1.8 pounds short of my next goal. I have set 5-pound goals since my surgery as I found 10-pound ones take too long. Keep drinking and keep your Protein up, that is hard too when you don't eat much. I also went on Amazon and ordered children's stainless flatware. The small spoon and fork keep my bites small. You did great losing so much before surgery so I know you will be successful. It is great to have another senior in our group.

Had my surgery in Jan. I am 67. All went well. In all 118# lost. Over 80 after surgery. I can eat anything, just eat very little of anything. Primary goals are Protein and Fiber, veggies.I eat very little bread. Very rarely any sugar. If I cheat I have one bite of a cookie or piece of pie. I exercise daily. Floor bike for at east 2 hrs a day. March in place, arm exercises with 2# weights. Best decision ever. Still work in progress. I have the best surgeon and staff. Dr Hanna. He keeps good track of me and they are so supportive. I track food and exercise daily.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
