Gained weight, oh no!!!

Recommended Posts

So, I thought "I got this"... Smooth sailing, 1-2 pounds a week?, no problem... until this week... and it's scaring the living daylight out of me. I gained 4 pounds over the weekend. I still do my usual everyday walking, plus I re-joined the gym so that's not the problem. It's the snacking late at night... Also, my coworker is having a bday this week, and I rolled some "lumpia" (filipino eggrolls) and I have tons in my freezer, ready to just get deep fried....and I'm about to throw them all soon.

I'm going to a 5 day cruise on the 4th of July too...

Please, I need some encouragement, some strong words, prayers, uplifting quotes...anything.

Thanks...

Sometimes those little bumps are Water weight and reaction to salty Snacks we've had and they'll go down in a couple of days. But you know what to do, keep track of what you're eating, stop the snacking, stick to Protein. It'll be easier on your cruise because you can stick to three meals a day with no snacking in between. You've got this! You can do this!

I had a 2 pound gain this morning. I know I am still consuming very few calories and so it is not from overeating. As GradyCat says, it could be Water weight (higher salt foods) or just normal fluctuations that happen with our bodies. That said, I could do better to focus on my Protein, fibre, and water, as recommended by my program and so that is what I am going to do. Hoping to see the scale down again very soon.

Just go back to the basics. Good luck!

A weight fluctuation of four pounds is workable. Stay calm and press on. Our minds can see gains and panic. Know that this can be Water weight or a slight fluctuation. Acknowledge it. Work on any old behaviors/night snacking. Keep health low calorie Snacks on hand. Much of weight loss is the mental battles. Surgery does not take away our old behaviors. It’s the work we put in.

Keep working your plan and congrats on your trip.

Perhaps it may help to Gift away the bday food (someone may wamt it), set a meal schedule/plan & stick to it until vacay, have fun on your cruise and get back to business when you return.

Good luck ❤

You know the basics... but we all need that kick in the pants every once in a while.

Track everything you put in your mouth. Drink your Water. Walk. Practice mindfulness... not just with food, but with your thoughts, with your activity, with your relationships.

Good on you for catching the bump in the road early and getting on top of it!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
