I am 11 days postop and cannot, get rid of this itchiness on my stomach. I removed the tape from my incisions because, I do have an allergy to some tapes but I thought for sure it would go away once, I removed the tape. Anyone else have this or know what it could be?

Contact dermatitis?

https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/contact-dermatitis/diagnosis-treatment/drc-20352748

I tend to get contact dermatitis after using a bandaid/plaster or something with the same type of adhesive for a a couple of days. The itch and inflammation can be quite intense sometimes.

I have adhesive sensitivities also nut it could be also a reaction to your anesthesia or other peri- operative medications. Takes awhile for all that to work out of your system. Oh, at the time, I concede we do need them but there has never been a drug brewed without some side effects. As the old carnival barker said " You pays your money, you takes your chance÷" most drugs can be okay but there always seems to be one which doesn't want to depart without leaving a " calling card". But I'm sorry you're in misery, try some hydro cortisone cream or even Benadryl cream. Ask your medical people if a short course of oral antihistamine might be useful. And from someone who has spent a good portion of her life BUMPY it does get better with time! Honest and truly!😝👋😛

I'm almost 6 weeks post op, and I'm still dealing with itchiness. And not just around my incisions, but everywhere I have stretch marks (stomach, boobs, arms, legs). Some days it drives me insane. I'm using boatloads of lotion (hypoallergenic) but it doesn't always help.

Try Domboro soaks, a little secret for you, its basically oatmeal, take washcloths your choice of 1 or 2. put oatmeal inside, stitch it closed, use it in a tub bath or coolish shower like you would a regular washcloth, no soaps, try Cetaphil, I'm pretty certain it should be,obtainable North of the Border, that's what I had to use for my eczema- ridden wee one's bathing. Just a couple old lady suggestions, can't harm, & it might help!

There's an old wives tale that when an incision or cut or a wound starts itching, it means it's healing.

I was intensely itchy after surgery and I believe that it was from less Water being taken in. Before surgery, I probably drank a gallon a day. After surgery u struggled to get in the 64oz my doc reccomends. My skin quickly became scaly. I am still dry (6weeks out) but using cocoa butter regularly has helped a lot in addition to being able to drink more water. I also do still have some Incision itchiness.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
