Has anyone tried Tabata? My gym offers it and it sounds like it’s an effective workout in a short period of time, however sounds scary and hardcore. I’m not sure if I could make it through so I’d love to hear from any survivors!

Looked it up on Dr Google, hmmm does sound very interesting in theory. If you can survive the intensity it sounds of great success! Yeah, I'll be lurking too to hear experts describe it for them.

I've done Tabata before. It's intense but I didn't hate it. Until it involved burpees, then I hate any workout with burpees.

Yee-ouch, burp, upchuck, two I can see why, at least with my crabby self- centered Precious Pouch, she still rules ME instead of me ruling her, maybe it will always be that way!

Tabata base workouts are great! We can do anything for 20 seconds at a time.

You are not wrong. It is scary. It is hardcore. The fact is, this type of High Intensity Interval Training has been proven to have some of the best fat loss benefits of any cardio based workouts. Add some resistance training to the HIIT and you increase the benefit.

You should absolutely try it and let us know what you thought.

@NurseMichael I went and observed today, halfway through I realized it is pretty much the same cardio class I attended on Friday. (Same instructor) It definitely is hard but I’m going to start going next week. I do like the idea of a shorter intense workout.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
