This kind of goes along with my post about low Protein. More lab results came back today, and I am also deficient in Vitamin A. I am waiting to hear from the surgeon about this, but imagine I will need a prescription Vitamin A supplement. Any one else deficient in vitamin A? I do take a high quality bariatric Multivitamin twice a day.

I had my surgery about 5 months ago, January 29, 2019. I'm about to get tested Monday. My eyesight which is usually great, is changing for the worse; I'm also losing a lot of hair, having memory issues and a major problem concentrating. I heard that the eyesight could be because of a Vitamin A deficiency. I've been bad about taking my Vitamins for a couple of weeks and I still have problems eating enough to reach Protein goals. I started the shakes again to increase levels of protein.

Good luck and have a great weekend!

I haven't had any labs done since my surgery. I guess I need to get some done to check how things are going.

You likely won't need a prescription. I just bought some - either online or at a pharmacy, not sure. Maybe even from this website.

memory and concentration issues could also be related to low Vitamin B. Take your Vitamins. You can get away with that sometimes with the sleeve, but not bypass.

Yes, you really should get things checked out. I was really surprised at the results.

How much do you take? I already get quite alot in my Multivitamin. I read for Vitamin A deficiency you need vitamin A in oil and at very high doses for a short amount of time. Then taper it off.

Thank you. I hope your testing goes ok and you don't have any deficiencies! You should definitely be taking your vitamins though.

So is butternut squash, sweet potatos and even pumpkin. A little Google, a little YouTube and a lot of Bariatric Pal also Pinterest. There are recipes tasty but yet not too bad for you. Its worth the Search!

At my 6 month checkup (I'm almost at 8 months post op currently), my labs showed low Vit A. So was told to add supplement to vitamin regime of 10,000 UI of Vitamin A twice a week. No prescription required (insurance doesn't cover it anyway).

P.S. I was already (and still do) take a pre-natal vitamin once a day, as well as Vitamin D (2/day), Calcium (2/Day) and Vitamin B12 (2/month)

Thank you, ms.sss! Did it take long for your levels to go up, and do you still take extra Vitamin A?

Yes, still taking it, I'm scheduled to go in at my 9 month mark (about a month from now) and get my bloodwork done again, and they will determine if I need to keep taking it, or if I can come off...we'll see. :)

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
