Yikes. Did u count how many bites before the upchucking started? Did u feel full? Just trying to see what to expect. I'm not a graceful puker. It comes out of every orifice in my face in a Linda Blair fashion.

I want to say it was my fifth small bite. I had already mixed the Beans with some Water to thin them, but I still chewed just as a precaution. I probably would have done better if I would have waited longer times between bites too.

I took your advice. I take 2 bites. Literally wait 5 minutes and take 2 more. So far so good.

I started pureed yesterday and had refried Beans for Breakfast, cottage cheese a couple of hours later, a Protein Shake for lunch and tuna salad for dinner. Since I had a revision the chewing part is already a habit and everything went down well. You will get there and it will e habit before you know it!

I think I was just going too fast and not chewing long enough. I have slowed down and chewed more and waited longer between bites and have noticed a big difference. I hope you are doing well in your recovering!

I am doing pretty good. Energy is lacking but I'm sticking with the program. Dr said energy should come back soon. Lost 17 pounds my first two weeks so I feeling excited about that. I started back at work today and I definitely feel beat. So glad to have food though. Even tiny amounts is so much better than Protein all day.

Hi Sept peeps! I wanted to check in to see how everyone is doing? I can't believe that as of this upcoming Tuesday I will be 6 weeks out. On Tuesday I will have release to eat whatever I want (of course keeping within recommended dietary guidelines from NUT and what new insides agree with).

I'm wondering how it is for others at this time? I do ok with soft foods like yogurt, but really struggle still with more solid foods like shredded chicken. Last night it took me 45 min to get in 3/4 of an ounce of chicken with some spaghetti sauce on it. I'm averaging about 500 cals a day. I still need to rely on Protein Shakes to get my Protein up there.

I've had the foamies a few times now - no fun! But I'm having trouble determining what the feeling of "full" is for me, so I think I just overdid it those couple of times with either eating too much or too fast. (I am starting to more consistently use a meal timer to help make sure I don't eat to fast.) How is it for others?

It's weird too because every time I eat my new insides gurgle and they feel like they are shifting around. Very strange feeling!

Energy level - I'm OK feeling for just regular sitting around and such, but going out to a store can exhaust me. Just last weekend I had to go sit in the car and let my boyfriend finish our grocery shopping without me. Ugh!

I'm taking in my first batch of clothes to goodwill today - weird to see them go, but this time (unlike previous "diets") I don't feel the need to hold on to them just in case I gain it back (which ALWAYS HAPPENED and then some!).

I was thinking too, its usually about this time into a diet that I would start to slide and go back to old ways. It is nice to have this tool so that I cannot do that... I just can't! This is what it is all about - making lifetime healthy habits!

Glad you're doing well. My energy level is lacking too but dr said that should come back. I'm still on soft foods. I do ok with shredded chicken. I use chicken tenderloins instead of whole breast. They are so much softer when baked. Tried beef stew last night. It was so good. That's the first red meat I have been able to handle. Makes a difference when it's tender. As for meat, I can't eat it by itself. I have to have something with it. Gravy, sauce, a super soft vegetable (meat lube). It helps chew up the meat into that apple sauce texture that we're supposed to. As far as getting full, I've only felt that once and that was last night with the beef stew. I typically eat 2 to 3 ounces at a time but last night I had 4 and it was too much. I was miserable for about 30 minutes. I also supplement 1 Protein Shake a day. I drink a premier with 30 grams of Protein which just barely puts me over 60 grams each day. I also force myself to walk 30 minutes a day whether I want to or not.

Hi All,
I hope everyone is doing well. Has anyone hit the often commiserated about 3 week stall yet? I’m right in the middle of it and it’s making me crazy! Not a single fraction of a pound budged in over 2 weeks. I’m working my plan, getting in my Protein and Water, but it’s still very frustrating. I’m averaging about 4 ounces per meal, get full and stay full on 3 meals per day. My calories are roughly 600 per day, 69 grams of protein, 23 total carbs and 18 net carbs.

The other thing is that I honestly don’t feel any different. When I had my band I struggled so much to eat that it’s actually a relief to eat without pain.

I just wish there was some way to move this along!

I have not. My calories are usually 800-1000 a day, and I have stayed losing to the tune of about 1 pound per day.

I am 6 weeks out today. Drinking fine but not the full 64 oz... but nutritionist was happy with my intake. I can eat soft foods no problem, and most chicken if it isn't too firm or ground beef. I usually eat 3-4 oz of food but a little more if it is something like a Soup with liquid. I have found d I do not do well with foods I really should t eat (learned that when trying to find food at Disney last week). Example, battered fried fish or corn dog or anything with unhealthy carbs. I am fine with soft fruits and veggies. But a salad wasn't a good choice lol. There are plenty of foods I haven't tried yet and find my tastes are changing. At home my favorite is homemade chili because it has some non meat Protein along with the ground beef and because it has liquids I feel like I can get more in. I such at tracking my food. I am starting to have lots of energy, but then busy days wipe me out. Weight loss is going at a great pace considering I started at a lower BMI. I did stall last week but this week I am losing well again. I am down 44 pounds since May 20 with over half of that since surgery. I have gotten small enough that nothing fits which is a good dilemma. Finally have no residual pain when I do something that pulls at the main incision. Getting into a good walking routine and hope I can continue with this progress when I go back to work. Grateful that my doc gave me 8 weeks off.

Thanks everyone for the replies! I know it will pass. I am fortunate in that other than beef, nothing else seems to bother me. I’m cautious of course and avoid sugar, simple carbs and junk food. I have noticed that I’m feeling hungry more often, but I honestly think it’s just head hunger. When I’m actually hungry, I generally know what I need and want to eat and it’s fairly straight forward. This is more of a vague feeling of wanting to eat but just for the sake of doing it. So, I just drink my Water and wait. It’s not easy, but since my stomach isn’t actually growling, I think it’s just a habit I’m in the process of breaking. Ahh, the joys of the bariatric head work😁

Me too! I lost 19 pounds the first week and nothing this week...I know my body is readjusting but it was strange to not lose anything after doing so well.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
