Briswife15 890 Posted June 20, 2019 Just had my first set of lab work done post RNY and for the most part it was good. However, my Protein and globulin were too low despite ingesting 85-100 gms per day. Anyone else have this? I'm 3 months post surgery. Frustr8 7,886 Posted June 20, 2019 Sounds like you're getting enough in, your body is having trouble digesting and assimilating it. There Must be surely a way to attack and solve this problem. If one kind of Protein is not working maybe they can give you other options?
catwoman7 11,220 Posted June 20, 2019 yes - I'm four years out and have to average at least 100 grams of Protein a day or else my prealbumin level tanks. We discovered my level runs low pretty shortly after surgery. I could very well have malabsorbed protein BEFORE surgery, too, but we'll never know because they didn't do a baseline on that. I still drink one Protein Shake a day as my morning snack. That pretty much assures I'll be over 100 grams by the end of the day (even though I get the rest of my protein from food)

I am waiting to hear from doctor's office as to what they want me to do. But was thinking of upping my intake to at least 100 gm as well.
