caithriona 1 Posted June 17, 2019 Hi, I’m looking for advice. I weigh 11 stone 11 pounds and I’m booked in to have gastric band surgery in less than a week. As it gets nearer to the time I’m starting to have second thoughts. I have been trying to loose weigh all my life but I just can’t. I know I’m now very overweight but I really want to loose 3 stone. Am I crazy to do this?? I’d love some advice because I’m feeling very nervous. Thank you in advance 1 Frustr8 reacted to this
Briswife15 890 Posted June 17, 2019 I had the gastric bypass not the band, so I have no experience with it, but if I were you I would do a lot of research before having a gastric band so you are aware of all the pros and cons. Good luck with whatever you choose!Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app 1 FluffySaysForkIt! reacted to this
Frustr8 7,886 Posted June 17, 2019 Hopefully your band will help with that because you suddenly will find your portion size will get much smaller, you will be on luquids, make the progressi9n back to2ard mo4e solid foods. Is NHS doing this and your time has finally come up? I ask b ecauae in US and Canada without some prework it is doubtful you would receive surgery without showing evidence of pre- work. before mine, I had to lose downnvi had lost 32 pounds, lost 15 in the month before, mine I lost over one of your stone and 8n the Real m9nys since 149, so we'll over 10 stone. e When you get back to solider it will be Protein first, veggies next, v fruit much later, that's pretty universal. I am surprised your surgical didn't put you on the MilkvDiet, UK seems gung-ho for it . You will go clear luquids, murky liquids, purees, then thicker and thicker foods. Yo7 may also start on Optifast or other Protein Shakes. At this late stage, start by cutting out or seriously cu5 back carbohydrates, most if n9t all fast foods, all those lovely things 5hat taste so good but are so bad for you. Start drinking more fluids, at very least try weak unsweetened t3a. Your body will not be very happy with you because your calorie intake will plummet like jumping off the White Cliffs of Dover . Expect dizziness, your or tummy growllingvand complaining g or you will be in a emotional and physical trvail before it's all over. But with strength you can do it! And many of us do wish you well on what you're undertaking.
Frustr8 7,886 Posted June 17, 2019 Hey I'm sorry , my mind. is moving. much faster than my fingers. Can you read any of the above? Basically drop fast food and carbohydrates, more liquids now even if you have to resort to weak unsweetened tea, Water truly will become a best friend. I am surprised without evidence of a serious try at loss you would even be scheduled unless you are private pay or going to Europe. can't visuluze NHS with all the d3kays and rules sanctioning this now. But I am only a new friend in the US, know my surgeon€ who,i really respect, and like) would have scheduled YOU, yes you certainly show need but you don't show commitment to stay the course. But I sincerelybwish you luck invthis!
