How? Percentage excess body fat loss?

Recommended Posts

Yes but you would need before and after body fat percentage (or in kilos) along with weight, otherwise it's just a guess.

There are some websites where you can enter weight and certain measurements and it gives an guessimate of body fat percentage...you could do for before and after, again not accurate but may be close enough for what you are after.

You'll also need to know the ideal % body fat - will depend on your age and sex. This is a good article on that (based on recommendations of the American College of Sports Medicine). https://www.livestrong.com/article/426250-acsm-body-fat-guidelines/

this article talks about ways to calculate body fat %: https://www.healthline.com/health/how-to-measure-body-fat

I have a scale that calculates body fat % (Fitbit Aria, but there are others).

You'd take (high body fat % - low body fat %)/(ideal body fat %)

And my scale says my body fat % is a little over 30, hope that is a good reading. Love love love seeing. BMI of 31, never thought I could get that low. Hippee Skipper for ME!

I saw once the most simplest way to calculate for woman is 100 pounds at 5 ft and then add 5 pounds for every inch. So at 5'4" my ideal body weight is 120. My weight day of surgery was 202 so I had 82 pounds of excess body weight.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
