I was in the hospital for 11 days with malnutrition status post RNY 6 weeks ago. I have an ulcer, and a stricture. I have TPN running all night at my home. I can finally start eating things that are soft. Any recommendations? I am so sick of yogurt, eggs and Soups. Any good crockpot recipes that people tolerated well? I would appreciate all suggestions! This has not been an easy road for me.

every program is different.. my " soft " stage allowed me to have things like chicken and fish. this includes things like canned salmon and tuna as well as white fish. they said fresh salmon might have to much fat in it at this point. Also soft fruit like a banana and canned fruit...

If you are referring to the puree stage then mashed potatoes are your friend. I cheated.. well maybe and got KFC potatoes and gravy.

Do you know what caused the stricture and ulcer?

In my case, I firmly believe the Omeprazole therapy, in my case it IS NOT GASTROPROTECTIVE! Told them so before surgery , did they listen? Nope, just like spitting into the wind, not a satisfying conclusion! Both my Grandfather and my late husband's Grandfather had the same motto, 2 different languages, but exactly same meaning
THEM WHO DON'T LISTEN, GOT TO FEEL!
The difference- they didn't listen, I was the one having to feel the pain. And , oh yes, it does hurt! Spasms and when not actively spasming , an abiding ache, internally where you cannot rub it to make it better!
Soups, vary the broth , vary the tastes if you can, season it a little if your tummy tolerates. Can't find. a taste you enjoy in commercial soups, construct and blend your own. Had 3 months of TPN myself, November 2018 through February 2019. Never been able to turn my back on Protein Shakes, find a taste you like, I do strawberry Ensure High Protein, the one with only 160 calories. Go back to plain broths if necessary, found after 9 months of Monkey- doodling I am beginning to loathe chick broths, so I do need or Wal-Mart Vegetable , not that expensive. I enrich all things not protein high with GENEPRO powder, not necessarily the best but I got a very good deal on it, had a coupon for it and Body Fortress both. And I'm almost always around here, 9 and 1/2months, lost 120+ pounds since surgery, story still being told, not sure what next chapters are going to be like, but I hold out optimism!

And I made myself sugar- free puddings or tapioca with stevia, used to like rice, but it balls up in my pouch, won't move on through so I Have to puke it up. And yes I do still urp and puke, very few days without it, I do not exceed the designated amounts, still happens. Just finally able to tolerate Greek Yogurt , it and cottage have always refluxed back up every since surgery, 2 other illogical things-Peanut butter, even PB2 powder, and bananas, doesn't matter how ripe they are. Don't try hiding these in smoothies, Precious Pouch knows and MUST have her way!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
