My grandmother

Recommended Posts

I have to vent. I started my pre-op liquid diet this morning.... SO naturally I ate whatever and how much ever I wanted to this weekend. My grandmother was with me Saturday. I have something like 3 candy bars (the bite side Halloweenesque ones) and then dinner.

So she goes to my mother on Sunday and says... Kelly ate so much on Saturday and I don't think she is serious about this. She should have been eating less (which I have done the 5 weeks prior to this since finding out about my surgery) and that would make the transition into the pre-op diet so much easier. I don't think she is serious and can do this.

WHAT THE HELL. I love my grandmother... but right now I could drop kick her.

This is the first time I have received any resistance from anybody and frankly it pi$&)$ me off. :heh::scared:

Vent over.

I am sorry she hurt your feelings with this. I am sure she is worried that you will put yourself through getting a surgery and not get the results you want. She loves you and wants you to succeed!

People will say dumb things along the way but your determination and results will show them all. Congratts on your surgery date!

Relatives:straight...you have to love them..... all I can say is get used to people monitoring every morsel you put in your mouth..seriously, after my surgery, my MIL made a copy of the list of things I could eat and whenever she came over(almost daily) whenever she saw me eat, she did not hesitate to whip out the list to make sure it was approved, and this was during the liquid and mushie stage....I just laughed at her.

There will be naysayers, just show them better than you can tell them when the weight starts falling off.:scared:

Family members sometimes mean well but may say the wrong thing at times.

I know that I told my mother and father an they are supportive.

It is important to have a support group and I am hopeful that once you start on your new journey it will be easy to see how faithful you are to your own success.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
