abakerarnp 3 Posted June 6, 2019 I was sleeved 05/24. I have been suffering from severe pain at my largest incision where my excess stomach was removed. Like 10/10 pain with basically any movement. I saw my surgeon who states there is a dissolvable suture in that muscle and once it dissolves in about another week, the pain should improve. Has anyone else experienced this? He put me on a muscle relaxer and a very strong narcotic today. Feeling quite discouraged. Everything else post-op has been fine (drinking/eating/my other surgical sites). TIA. 2 GreenTealael and Frustr8 reacted to this
49Nash 103 Posted June 6, 2019 I had one very painful site also. I was told it’s the area they took my stomach out. Hang in there, it gets better 1 GreenTealael reacted to this
Sosewsue61 3,185 Posted June 6, 2019 Nerves need to knit back together, and they severed the omentum from the fundus...this was major surgery and there will be some pain and healing. Hang in there, it improves quickly after week 4.... 1 GreenTealael reacted to this
JanJan19 205 Posted June 6, 2019 My surgery was 5/23 and that large incision is the only thing left that hurts in the slightest. Zero problems overall. But I'd describe the pain level as mildly annoying, not a 10. Maybe a 3? And my pain was AWFUL the first 24 hours - 48 hours but faded off. 1 GreenTealael reacted to this
GradyCat 3,695 Posted June 6, 2019 My surgeon forewarned me that the incision site at the muscle may be painful, but it never was. Sorry you're going through this. Hang in there, it'll heal with time. 1 GreenTealael reacted to this
SusieQ2019 567 Posted June 6, 2019 Hang in there, it will get better. Try not to lift anything heavy or over do it. 1 GreenTealael reacted to this
abakerarnp 3 Posted June 6, 2019 Yes, he forewarned me as well but this is out of the realm of normal. Hopefully these meds will help. Thanks for the responses. ❤️ 1 GreenTealael reacted to this
justmetj 421 Posted June 6, 2019 My surgeon injected some great nerve blocker in that area that kept my stomach numb for well over a week so there was no pain at all. I hope you feel better quickly because a 10 is horrible pain 1 GreenTealael reacted to this
Frustr8 7,886 Posted June 6, 2019 And my surgeon did the same thing, I never encountered the pain many others complain of. 2 justmetj and GreenTealael reacted to this
GreenTealael 25,439 Posted June 7, 2019 (edited) Same happened to me but I'd rate my pain at a 7/10 (I've been at a 10/10, my personal worst, on the pain scale and needed to be hospitalized so...) Maybe your perception of the pain is off a little but if you are truly at a 10/10 I'd recommend going to the hospital because it may be an emergent situation. Good luck 💙 Edited June 7, 2019 by GreenTealael 1 justmetj reacted to this
