My surgery is scheduled for July 23rd. I don't have a pre-op diet either. I'm excited and a little nervous. My pre-op meeting with the surgeon is this Friday. ...The thing I think I'll miss the most is Diet Coke.

Good luck with your journey and your surgery. My best friend has been 2 ltrs.of diet Pepsi every day.

My biggest concern is that I can't drink before, during or right after eating. Not sure how we are going to accomplish taking so long to eat so little food at each meal knowing that it's going to be cold way before you get finished.

Surgery is scheduled for July 16th

My surgery is July 30th. It has be rescheduled twice. My first date was September 17th. The office called and asked if I would like an August date instead so they scheduled me for August 22nd. Today they called and said they had a July date available and would like to bump me up again. I had a 12 month wait time because my insurance required me to do bariatric counseling for a year before they would approve the surgery. I can't believe my date is almost here!

I'm scheduled for RNY on 7/25! Was originally scheduled for a sleeve on 7/1 but I changed dr's @ last minute and new dr felt I absolutely should be doing RNY instead of sleeve.

So now on 2nd round of pre-op dieting. Congrats to all the bypass peeps already done in July - I hope your recoveries are going well!

Woohoo! In addition to a 'July surgery sibling', we are 'same day siblings'!

Are you on your pre-op diet yet? Seems that diff dr's vary between wanting their patients to start 3 weeks before surgery date, some are 2 weeks...some are 10 days...and I've heard of a very very few that required no preop diet.

Hi! No I only have to do a 3 day clear cleanse! The doctor said maybe lose 5 pounds, but nothing specific! What about you?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
