That's good to hear. I had that last minute freak out and almost backed out. I kept thinking, but I want to eat a small piece of cake with my kids on their birthday, without having to race to the bathroom. Or even go out to lunch with my friends. And not have to worry about something embarrassing.

So just throwing out a little story...I am almost one month post-op and I haven’t lost a lot of weight but am so super happy I had this surgery (sleeve)! I used to binge eat until I felt physically sick for no reason. I would eat fast food almost daily at lunch (and of course hide this fact - like did I really think people don’t understand my ability to eat mass quantities when they look at me and my xxl body?? Who was I fooling other than myself??). Lol but seriously I have no desire to eat 2 entire meals from McDonalds now (even took my child there today and got him a meal and got an unsweetened iced tea for myself and was content and did not feel deprived or as if I was being cheated by not being able to have fries - one of my fav things ever in my former food life!). I feel like this surgery helped not only my weight loss journey but also my mental state. Very grateful and feel awesome. Hope others feel the same! Can’t wait to see what the future holds!!! 😀

Nooooo!!! Really stop for a minute and realize what you are saying!! The surgery is AWESOME! It's doing exactly what it's supposed to be doing--providing negative feedback impetus for changing your relationship/behavior with food. Aversion therapy. Give yourself a hug and thank your tool for making you miserable and giving you a teaching moment!!! Isn't it amazing that only 1 mini quesadilla from TacoHell gave you a horrible ride on the pain train? :D Congrats! 🍾:780_sparkling_heart:

Wow that's a funny and positive way of looking at it (the pain from overeating).

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
