Hi everyone!

So I've been really insecure about myself and my weight for the last couple of years to the point where I haven't been in a relationship in 5 years! After much thinking and a little push from my mother, I decided to get WLS. I want to get back into the dating world, but I don't even know where to begin.

I tried Eharmony towards the beginning of the year and met someone, things were going great and we even had a second date. The entire time I was under the impression things were going in the right direction until out of the blue he told me he "couldn't do this" and it was best to cut ties. Til this day I can't shake the feeling that this was due to my weight, and now I'm more hesitant to date again. I know that after losing weight things will be easier, but I don't like the idea of someone liking me now only because I'm "skinny".

Any one else feel that way?

Welcome, and don't feel bad about the relationship not working out. I see it as his own insecurities and not yours. Men are going to like you for who you are and the qualities you bring to a relationship and if they don't that's there lost. Take your time and the right person will come along.

You are gorgeous!! You're not the only one who feels this way. Don't give up dating. He could have some other reason for breaking things off. Most likely, it had nothing to do with you, especially if he didn't explain. Get back out there, girl!

Hi, I am also in Maryland. I went to a seminar last night at AAMC, and when I called my insurance this morning they said if I go to doctor at University of Maryland, they will pay 90%. So I am filling out my paperwork now. What hospital are you going to have your surgery at?

Hey @nursekimberly89 I already had my surgery but I paid out of pocket and had it done in Mexico. I was a "healthy" fat girl with no complications so it wouldn't be covered by my insurance and I was on the BMI borderline :/

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
