3 weeks post op. Belly button incision pain

Recommended Posts

Did you have bypass or sleeve? I would guess bypass, because sleevers are usually the left side, that's where they pull across your intestines the 3/4 of your natural stomach they are discarding. Right side is either liver retractor or the larger gauge surgical equipment like staplers. But none of mine ever hurt and they remove the vast amount of Carbon dioxide before you leave their OR so you don't have that to work out of your system. I was blessed can't tell me different!

I was told to expect pain like that off and on as I heal... as things that were a bit more tightly stitched heal and relax.

And also they may have put re- enforcing stiches in there so you don't develop an internal hernia, once you have healed enough they pop free. One girl said she felt a definite ping when hers loosened up.

I had sleeve and my pain was on the right, not the left

I think it's normal for one of them, the largest one, to hurt a little and feel like it's pulling because it was attached to muscle.

by far the most painful incision for me is the one on the right of my bellybutton. I even have a dent where that incision is. THe dent is going away, and that incision is hurting less, but its obviously where all he action happened as its the only incision that has really hurt. It still does but its much better. I also had bypass.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
