7 Days Post Op - Ate Cottage Cheese

Recommended Posts

I'm 7 days post op & I just ate 2 oz of cottage cheese. *side eyes myself* Except it went down just fine & I'm going to punch myself in the face & throw up if I have to eat another sip of Soup. Am I the only one who's cheated post op & should I expect to die in an hour or two? (kidding) I'm not even craving bad things, I just cannot take soup or Protein Shakes. CANNOT.

Jan,

You are so brave. I am only into day 4 of my liquid diet and I am ready to cook the air.😂

I could only wish that I could have Soup right now. Keep us posted as to how you are feeling later on.

YES YES YES. I am going a bit crazy! This morning I had a couple of sips of caffeinated coffee with half and half. Heaven! I plan to do the same tomorrow. *side eyes myself as well*.

In my post op pamphlet it actually included cottage cheese during first two weeks, but then it was crossed out... so I suspect it’s really okay and just an individual thing!

WLS is hard. You are going through a time that is a right of passage.

I think we've all "tested" the waters during our diet progression--some with more success than others. But please understand this...the rules exist for a reason. For our protection! At 7 days the risk of perferation and leakage are HEEEEEEUUUUUUUGGGGGEEE! The reason you are placed on liquids is to reduce the amount of activity in the stomach. The stomach actually expands and contracts when food (and sometimes liquids) are brought into it. They even do that in response to PICTURES of food. And the docs want to keep that activity to a minimum.

And the second thing that must be asked of you guys cheating:

What were you hoping to get from WLS? Why would you actively say WTF, I'm doing it anyway cuz I am "tired of liquids" Why would you actively add back caffeine to your program when your doc told you not to? When decaff is an option?

*SMH. Trying not to judge. But this WOE is hard enough without actively trying to eff ourselves with bad choices--most especially during this early, early, time. You have ONE honeymoon period. Don't eff it up. Don't squander it. Get started doing the headwork, and making the hard calls.

I'm sure others will be along shortly to soothe your ruffled feathers and give affirmation to your decisions and rationalizations... :(

At 7 days (or anytime) engage your MIND rather than entertain idle head hunger. (And yes, I KNOW how hard head hunger is...and about diet fatigue. I get it. It's hard. So is being morbidly obese and having terrible co-morbidities. Choose your hard.)

Spend the time wisely--learn new things--do the head work. Here's a great thread to apply your brain.

I understand completely, I’m 8 days post op and I still have 2 weeks to go before I move to the next stage. I had 2 crackers with my broth, I know I just needed something different. We don’t have a lot of choices during this phase , but we do have to be careful.
I’m not here to judge it’s confronting to know that someone else is going through the same thing. On the other hand I’m down 7lbs since surgery last week...... Whoop Whoop

I am one month post-op and I understand completely, it's hard in the early stage when you only have 2 food choices. I am so tired of pureed bean Soup that I e-mailed my dietitian to ask her if I can eat turkey chili or beef chili she flatly denied me but suggested to make bean chili. She said my stomach wasn't ready for meat.

Hang in there you can do it.

My doctor is totally cool with caffeine, actually. :)

I sorta think it varies by doctor as well. Mine is fine with caffeine. Even told me to continue having some the DAY AFTER surgery if I normally drink it so that I don't get a caffeine withdrawal headache. I cut mine way back leading up to the surgery & am keeping it to half a cup to one cup after. My surgeon is also fine with Creamer & sugar free syrups.

Oh that's interesting. Mine is fine with meat in Soups as long as it's blended. I've not tried beef yet because I'd rather just wait until I can chew it, but i've had chicken in soups, pureed.

Welcome to the world of arbitrary doctor's orders. It IS hard to make sense of the hard fast rules and the touchy feely individual ones. But it's still besst to follow YOUR doc's plan. Otherwise why have the surgery? I just HAVE to presume that the docs know more than we do as patients in these situations...

She said I can eat soft fish(not salmon). Unfortunately I do not eat any type of seafood.

Are you still pre-op? LOL. That's what it says in your profile.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
