It depends on the surgeon. Some allow gum, some do not.

It's the risk of SWALLOWING the gum that they are concerned with. My surgeon said it is indigestible and can also get stuck.

they are just concerned post op because of the chance you can swallow it by accident. it can cause obstruction on your new sleeve.
