Pre-Op Diet Plan, GIMMIE GIMMIE GIMMIE!

Recommended Posts

So I am coming up to the when I start my 2 week pre-op diet and I have some questions.

When it comes to the Vitamins, does it have to be a certain brand(the surgeons office recommended Building Blocks) or can I go with something not so costly?

Recommended: https://www.bbvitamins.com/product/multiple-vitamin-chewable-citrus-test/

Me thinking: https://www.walmart.com/ip/Equate-Adult-Complete-Multivitamin-Tablets-200-count/14711329

The Meal Replacement shakes. Are there specific ones to go for? Which brands?

Sipping...I understand the idea of sipping my fluids but, is there a wait time between sips I should be following? And post surgery do I sip until I feel a certain way?

When I start the diet I would like to have a step-by-step breakdown of the entire day. At what time and for how long I do such and such. If anyone could set me up with one or give me a link I would appreciate it.

Also, i was told I need to take in 80 to 100 ounces of Water a day. Is that accurate? Reason I ask is when I was looking at diet plans for pre-op the water ounces didnt add up to what i was told.

Thanks for any help :)

My preop diet is:

All 3 meals are Protein Shakes and Snacks are sf Jello, sf pudding, and sf popsicles. As for what kind of Protein shakes, I really love the Unjury kind. They are amazing. I havent figured out my Vitamin situation yet. I should find out on Monday if they recommend a specific kind though.

When it comes to Protein Shakes, my doctor said as long as they followed the following criteria:
Protein: 20 -40 grams
Fat: 5 grams or less
Sugar: 5 grams or less
I would suggest you try a few before committing to a certain brand. Walmart has their own brand and it's pretty reasonably priced. I believe $15 or less for a case of 12.
Vitamins....... I was instructed that for the 1st month after surgery we needed to get the patch. Especially the multi Vitamin and B12.
As far as water goes. I believe everyone is different. Our(my) guidelines are to get in at least 64 ounces per day.
Good luck in your journey. [emoji6] 20190520_090357.jpeg 20190520_090055.jpeg

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
