2Bsmaller18 436 Posted May 28, 2019 So I am over 3 months post op. I had a one brief 1 week stall but otherwise I am consistently at 2-3 lbs/week. I know everyone is different etc. but did you lose quickly until month 3, 4 or 6 then slow down and stay at that rate for months? Did your weight loss stay steady until 6 months out? Did it just slowly decrease over time?
med28thmed 118 Posted May 28, 2019 Hi 2Bsmaller18! Sorry can't answer your question coz my surgery was a day after yours... I'm still losing weight but so far this month has been the slowest! But, I want to Congratulate you.... you're almost to your goal weight!!! Great job! 1 2Bsmaller18 reacted to this
justmetj 421 Posted May 28, 2019 I'm wondering the same thing. These are my numbers so far starting the day of my surgery with no pre-op diet:

Woohoo! you are close to goal. 2 FluffySaysForkIt! and justmetj reacted to this
catwoman7 11,220 Posted May 29, 2019 I lost the most the first month - after that I lost 10-12 lbs a month up until about month 6. Then it dropped to maybe 8-10 lbs, and so on....so a gradual drop. Once I got to a year out, it was crazy slow - maybe 2 lbs a month. But I kept losing for 18 months. 2 rs and justmetj reacted to this
KCgirl061 1,532 Posted May 29, 2019 I was losing 10 pounds a month pretty steady until about 8 months out. Now I'm still losing but at a much slower rate. 1 justmetj reacted to this
Ellf 205 Posted May 29, 2019 I'm about two months out, and I've lost about 52-54 lbs. (Fluctuating a bit). It seems like I'm stalling a bit now, but I know that it'll be broken eventually. If I lose 10 more lbs, I'll be below 300. 1 1 justmetj and traeleo reacted to this
GradyCat 3,695 Posted May 29, 2019 Mine started slowing down at 3 months.
Carrot64 214 Posted May 29, 2019 I’m 3 1/2 months post op and I’ve lost 64 lbs since the pre op diet.. I was losing a lb ever 2 days but I have slowed down with the losing to less than 2 lbs a week and sometimes only 1... I have 35 to go and I am scared the last 35 will be as tough as losing those last lbs. when I was just dieting.. I’ve purposely not over exercised because I feel that I can’t maintain extreme exercise without giving up as I’ve done before.. I try to make my exercise as fun as I can and I thoroughly enjoy it.. ( dancing for half an hour with the dog being my favorite , with the hits of miss Chaka Khan!!!).. if the last 35 come off slow, ok! I’ll get there.. if I only lose 20 more , ok! I still feel better than I have since I was 25..now 55.. I’ll take it, no regrets, no looking back.. NO un achievable expectations!! 2 justmetj and ms.sss reacted to this
irol888 39 Posted May 29, 2019 I'm 6 months post-op RNY (surgery was on 11/28/18). I'm just starting to slow down a bit. Was losing 10-15 pounds per month, now about 7-8. Averaging about 2 pounds per week. But my nutritionist told me I will slow down and that's ok. Time to stop worrying about the number and trust the process! Only regret is that I didn't do this sooner!! 2 justmetj and traeleo reacted to this
RickM 1,752 Posted May 29, 2019 This is something with a two part answer. The first is that, on average, we will be slowing down continually as we lose, simply because it takes fewer calories to move ourselves around all day at 300 lb as it did at 400 lb, and even fewer at 200 lb, etc. We will likely see stair steps, and some weeks or months will be lower or higher than others, but the overall trend is declining. The second part is that we will usually experience a big drop the first couple of weeks or so (and then typically get the dreaded "three week stall") and the proceed lower at a somewhat reduced rate. This is because our initial loss it mostly Water weight associated with burning off our short term energy reserves of glycogen (basically stored carbohydrate) which gives us the "easy ten" lb that we typically lose when we start seriously dieting. After the glycogen is used up, we start to draw from our fat reserves, though there is often a pause or stall as the body changes gears. 1 justmetj reacted to this
