So I’m sitting here 13 days PO and I keep having these recurring thoughts of “what if my bypass just doesn’t work...?” Irrational, I know. I’m not talking about losing the weight and regaining. I mean straight up NOT losing anything ever. That doesn’t happen, right? I have no complications, no pain, I can drink and take my supplements with no issue. That scares me too. Like, I thought this was supposed to be hard. If I didn’t see the scars on my belly I would second guess that I ever had surgery. 😕

Oh it will go away, just think about positive thoughts. At least you got the surgery and not alot of people can get this surgery at all.

The first time you'll eat one more bite than your pouch can comfortably hold, the message will come home to you. And you'll find out that you do have restriction.

I had these thoughts as well. I was stranded for 3 weeks at the same weight. Thank goodness I have lost 15 pounds since then. I certainly understand the thinking. We just have to be positive. Good luck! I bet you will do great!💯💕

I could have written this myself back in February, I was sure it didn’t “take” and that I was going to fail, it wouldn’t work on me , I felt too good after surgery.. but I’m down 64 lbs... your not on a diet , your body will not allow you to eat like you once did and in a few months you will feel more confident.. even up until a few weeks ago( in my newbie posts) I had no confidence... I talked to my surgeon and she assured me I would do well and I suggest CALL your dr. If you need reassurance and keep talking to us and reading.. you are not alone AT ALL and what you are feeling .. we all felt

Ive had no real complications either. I am 4 days post op and it feels like I’ve gotten nothing done. Did it take? I’m going to ask my surgeon for an X-ray so I can actually see things. I guess it might just mean we have great surgeons 😉

you will start feeling restrictions as soon as you eat something that doesnt agree or you over eat. i just accepted the fact i will probably never have chicken again. just keep getting your Protein and Water, you will be fine

I thought the same exact thing 6 months ago, post op RNY. This is where we change all our previous thought patterns. Trust the process! It's going to work! I remember asking my nutritionist, "What if it doesn't work for me?" She put her hand on my arm and just told me to keep up the good work, eat right/exercise and finally trust. I never trusted anything as much as I do this process. It will work!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
