jennj 49 Posted May 19, 2019 My surgery is July 8. I just started trying to drink a Protein Shake a day, just to help with the transition. The first day, I drank a full shake and subsequently threw it up. Today, I drank half a shake, felt like throwing up, but I didn't. I have tried Premier shakes (bananas and cream and caramel). Any suggestions on what to try? I'm getting nervous that all shakes will make me sick. 2 ARMoma45 and Frustr8 reacted to this

Flakeranger 15 Posted May 19, 2019 I like the Core Power Protein Shakes much better, they are not as cloyingly sweet and not as dense. You might try thinning your shake with Water or skim milk if it's the consistency that's bothering you. I also like to pour some in a container and freeze it for a bit. It's akin to ice milk and a bit more tolerable. Hang in there and experiment with other brands until you find something that works for you. Protein is essential and this is the easiest way to get it with the least expenditure of calories. 2 shublu and ARMoma45 reacted to this
jennj 49 Posted May 19, 2019 Sometimes, with no rhyme or reason, milk/dairy negatively affects me. I’m thinking of trying something lactose free. I’m ok with the consistency, it’s just about 30 minutes after, I have a horrible stomachache. 2 Frustr8 and ARMoma45 reacted to this
Frustr8 7,886 Posted May 19, 2019 You may have to go to soy or plant Protein. And whey provokes reaction more than isolate. 1 ARMoma45 reacted to this
Briswife15 890 Posted May 21, 2019 I like Unjury or Syntrax Nectar powders mixed with unsweetened almond milk. I tried powder mixed with Water and it was vile!!Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app 2 Frustr8 and ARMoma45 reacted to this
Briswife15 890 Posted May 21, 2019 I have lactose intolerance and whey Protein isolate is fine. The whey protein Concentrate can cause digestive problems. Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app 2 ARMoma45 and Frustr8 reacted to this
jennj 49 Posted May 22, 2019 I got an unflavored soy isolate, mixed it with Water and crystal light. It’s not wonderful, but my stomach can tolerate it. Only 20g of Protein per serving, but at least I can stomach it. 3 ARMoma45, Frustr8 and AnnaMarieSRQ reacted to this
GradyCat 3,695 Posted May 22, 2019 That's a shame. I've heard of other people not liking Protein Shakes on here in the forums. I like them. I use premade GNC Lean shakes (chocolate) 1 ARMoma45 reacted to this
jennj 49 Posted May 22, 2019 I don’t mind the taste, the whey just wrecks my stomach.
Briswife15 890 Posted May 22, 2019 Whey concentrate will do that. Have you tried whey isolate instead? Mych easier on the stomach. Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app 1 ARMoma45 reacted to this

mousecat88 2,281 Posted May 22, 2019 Whey makes me vomit. Try soy shakes. They have delicious chocolate and vanilla ones on Amazon. 2 AnnaMarieSRQ and ARMoma45 reacted to this
