๐Ÿ˜œ๐Ÿ˜œstomach pain..is it really just acid??๐Ÿ˜œ๐Ÿ˜œ

Recommended Posts

I have the worst stomach pain. I'm 6 weeks post op and it's been for the last 3 weeks. Doc says it is acid. But I get stabbing pains when I drink Water and when I eat. I have been taking Pepcid that sort of helps with the constancy but not the pain when I eat and drink. I'm eating just once a day in the mornings when it isn't so bad and drinking only about 50 ounces it has gotten so bad. I see the Doc again on Tuesday. I have done research and it could be something more serious. What have you experienced?

I have severe stenosis (stricture) post gastric bypass, and it started at 3 weeks. Worst my surgeon has ever seen. I am now 7 weeks post surgery and just got home from my third endoscopy with dilation to try to stretch it. So, not to scare you, but maybe you have a stricture. Are you nauseous and vomiting? If so, that's a clear sign. Pain, not so much. You could also have an ulcer. Hope it's something simple and you feel better soon.

You shouldn't have any acid pain after bypass. Your symptoms youre describing sound just like when I had an ulcer. It hurt even when I drank Water. Like a fire that stabbed me, lol. Be forceful and demand an endoscopy. My pain developed a week or so out from surgery.

I've not had any other complications. No nausea or vomiting. I had no idea my little stomach didn't make acid... I will do some research on ulcers. The only food I can eat that doesn't hurt that I have found so far is home cooked Beans. Thanks for taking the time to read my post. ๐Ÿ˜Š

UPDATE....saw the doc today..she said she has no idea why i have stomach pain when I eat and drink..she wants to take a look but...she said she is goung to stretch my pouch when she does wich will make me lose weight slower!!! I've only lost 22lbs in six weeks. I scheduled the procedure for 2 months from now see how things go. Meanwhile I will deal with the pain and continue swimming and walking. Thank you for all the support

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
